Zgoda: ANOTHER Richardson?

Zgoda wrote: Kahn called the 6-6 Richardson's acquisition "less an acquisition at this point than an ability to create [roster] flexibility" and make additional trades, perhaps to target expensive Phoenix shooting guard Jason Richardson or disgruntled Portland shooting guard Rudy Fernandez, Rubio's former teammate with the DKV Joventut team from which Rubio is seeking his release.

I'm opposed to this for betterreasons than my name-swapping issues. Jason Richardson is far too expensive .. $13,333,332 this year, and $14,444,443 in 2010. In today's economy, he's about a $8-$9 mil player. Our raw cap space would do far better in 2010, particularly if the lux drops up to $10 mil.

Sure that's not just Zgoda being dumb? I like Fernandez coming over because he's on a rookie deal and the whole Rubio angle.

As far as J-Rich is would take waiting a little bit and then pairing Songalia and Q for J-Rich and picks or other young assets of some sorts at the very least. So I highly doubt that's happening.

going after J Rich would seem to go against everything Kahn has done so far

Yeah right J -- it's pretty evident J Rich is your favorite player. Everyone can see that. You would probably trade Jefferson for him in a heart beat i you had the chance.

As a matter of fact, I bet you have a life size Richardson card board cut out that you play in front on your nerf hoop while wearing a throw back Richardson Warriors jersey. All while saying to your self "Richardson.... passes to Richardson...and Richardson with the punp fake .... the dribble.... he jams it home! Showtime!"

Back when I was in college, freshman were usually the star of the party. Especially when they were drunk, blonde, and female.

It's what you get for tying to pawn off Flynn and Ellington for Martin and Udrih

I like J-Rich, but agree at this point he doesn't make sense with the contract. If we were one scorer at SG away from contending, I'd feel different.

I actually think we've done a good job of balancing out the roster and gaining some flexibility for the future. Making a move for an over-priced SG that is going to hinder that flexibility while not doing anything significant to our win total isn't the right way to go. I'd like to see an improved product as much as the next guy, but J-Rich is a better acquisition than the signings of T-Hud, Hassell, and Mike James improving the short term marginally, but not leaving us any better in the long term.
