Q-Rich Trades?

Charley Walters (yeah, I know he has no credibility, but humor me here) said Quenton Richardson could be traded again. Since he's an expiring, any of Charley's alleged "cap -savings" would only be for this year, within the 125% CBA salary-match limitations, and he'd have to be dealt seperately unless we were willing to wait 60 days. But there are possibilities:

If Rubio doesn't come over, how's this look?

Q-Rich for Morrison + Farmar + $1.5 mil TPE?

For the Lakers, Farmar has fallen out of favor, and Morrison was never any good. All are expirings, so the Lakers go with the vet, and we go with two younger players that we could give minutes to?

one of the advantages of the original traded was that it was three for one. I think clearing the two roster spots is more valuable then adding the TPE at the expense of one of the open spots.

I guess I'd be fine with that, but do the Lakers even bother?

I'll ask. Q-Rich is at least a vet, and it saves them a roster space to sign a vet-min free agent.

I prefer moving Songalia + Gomes, but I wonder if the BOS would do a

Q-Rich for Bill Walker + Giddens + Tony Allen + Scalabrine + $1.7 mil TPE

Yeah, its 4-for-1, but we use the $1.7 to buy out Scalabrine, and we get a couple prospects at position of need for no cost.

Speaking of which, Shrink. I was meaning to ask if you had any other idea on how to move Songaila for expirings and get him off the 2010 cap? The last one I saw discussed was the Morrison for Songaila possibility.

LAL's not having it, because I think they can do better. We'd have to add something of value. I like the BOS deal, with Gomes + Songalia for the same package as here.

I'd much rather have Q's large expiring contracts than a bunch of smaller expirings, or no talent "prospects".

Here's a slick one:

MIL GETS: Q-Rich + $2 mil TPE
MIN GETS: Ridnour + Elson + Joe Alexander

MIN gets some talent. MIL does this to get the 2009 raw cap space to match any Sessions offer, and not hurt their finances. This is about the most 2009 salary we can absorb under the 125% + $100,000 cap match.

But it leaves us short at SG again, gives us yet another big man and SF that won't play, and a 3rd string PG. What benefit do we get out of it? That MAYBE Joey A isn't a complete bust?

Has Alexander shown any defensive talent? I know he's really athletic, but that's the only reason I'd be interested in trying him out.

I'd do it if Rubio stays in Europe this season, the Lakers one that is. Morrison is as good as Richardson and I've always like Farmar.

Q-Rich + $2 mil for Ridnour + Joe Alexander + Elson

I see Brewer as a 2-3, and Ellington as a back-up 2, and potentially, Rubio and Flynn on the court at the same time, so I'm not so worried about a 2.

Ridnour alone has more trade valuable than Q-Rich, if for no other reason that they have comparable on-court value, but Ridnour is $2.2 mil cheaper. Ridnour also helps with minutes if Rubio doesn't come over. Alexander is a prospect.

I don't care so much about open roster spaces. If I was BOS or LAL, I'd like them to bring in key free agents for the vet min. For us -- whatever. Bobby Brown and Elson aren't expensive buy-outs anyway.

Trading Richardson for other expiring contracts who we plan to let walk at the end of the season seems kind of pointless.

Except each deal brings young players we can get a look at.

We know we won't be keeping Q-rich, but we don't know how a Joe Alexander or JJ Giddens will look if we give them some minutes to audition in their second year.

Alexander is an interesting proposition. Combo forward that showed a glimmer of hope this summer league. I don't think we'll be able to deal Richardson for a less useful expiring, since Q is pretty useless himself. We could combine his contract with another expiring plus picks/young talent if a stud becomes available, but otherwise I think we're stuck with him.

Wow...Millwaukee would never in a million years do that deal

What's up with the Joe Alexander hate round here? He has a very good post up game, great size, is athletic as crap and can shoot a lil to top it off. What's not to like?

The Bucks board has already dubbed him a bust, apparently he looked terrible last season.

keep Q and sign Darius Miles, it's destiny. I want to see those 2 back together again, it'd make this season worthwhile

I'd give them Gomes for him straight up. I have watched a lot of him and i think he has great potential.
