Hakim Warrick?

Memphis just withdrew their qualifying offer.

I really haven't heard much about him in the last year or two, but I remember when he came into the league he was considered a SF/PF. Could he be a SF project for us?

I think he's fell in to PF exclusively club...which would make him worthless here. I like his game...he's more athletic than Love or AJ...but in no other way better at all. He would be a great replacement for Smith....actually now that I say that, if his price tag is low enough...about 3 million, he might be worth a look...especially if AJ is slow to get back. But I don't think his game reflects the SF position any more.

Here's what DX had to say back in Mar 2008 --

Defense: Warrick isn’t much of a shot-blocker or ball-thief considering his physical gifts. But he challenges shots well when on ball and can be a pesky man defender when guarding on the perimeter. He is limited in effectiveness when playing power forwards due to his inability to deny post position or effectively use his body to knock larger opponents off-balance. Warrick shows potential at the 3 defensively, where his length becomes an asset. But Warrick needs to make a full commitment on the defensive end. He’s not very aggressive with his perimeter pressure and gets caught standing upright too often, which slows down his closing speed on shooters. A wider base when in his defensive stance would help him to contain drivers with more effectiveness.

Maybe I'm drawing at straws here

Thats what I was thinking... Perhaps our version of Earl Clark. He had to play the 4 at memphis...they had no one at that position. If the price tag is right, it would be interesting to see if he could play a majority of his minutes at SF.

ya i guess he could play the 3, he is athletic enough, a better upgrade over Ryan Gomes? Definitely is over brewer, so if he even came here he would be a back up?

not sure i want Warrick, he's a bit old for us i'd think. at 27 i question his ability to develop a better perimeter game that i think we'd need.
