Kahn not done with Atkins? Carney return still a possibility

Post#1 » by Calinks » Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:53 am

From Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune:
Kahn referred to the deal and Atkins' contract as "savings we hope to realize in another way shortly, the next couple of days."

All three players' contracts expire after this season.

Wilkins, 29, is expected in the Twin Cities on Friday for a four-day stay when the Wolves will work out him and start to determine just what they have in the 6-6 shooting guard, a position of need for them.

• Kahn is on the West Coast conducting second interviews to find a new coach. He is expected to choose from former NBA point guard Mark Jackson and L.A. Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis after interviewing perhaps more than a dozen candidates, including Wolves assistant Jerry Sichting. Houston assistant Elston Turner also likely will be, or has been, interviewed.

• Kahn is interested in bringing back unrestricted free agent Rodney Carney but will not do so until he can make other roster moves.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

I don't mind Wilkins. He might even have a little ability. Heput up 41 points a couple years ago in ATL, outdueling Joe Johnson.

Nothing like that since though.

i think i'd rather have Olie back than carney. he'd be a better influence on the young'ins and plays better team defense.

Oh baby imagine the outlet passes from love to rubio, who then throws a half-court, behind the back alley oop to carney who catches it and cocks it back before crushing it home. SICK. lol

Possible to turn Atkins around into the rumored Indiana/Boston or Charlotte/New Orleans deals to pick up future assets?

too many trades, not even worth starting up a new 2k9 franchise because Kahn makes 3 trades per week

Heh, I am guessing that they aren't to the point where they are setting up rosters for ship dates, nor that it would be that difficult to adjust them; but I had the mental movie in my head as follows:

Basketball game programmer walks into his manager's office going over his progress reports and showing game print outs.

Programmer: We are doing great. Ahead of schedule on the graphics side. Customization is amazing, and you should see how Barry put in that 720 dunk. Beautiful. Anyhow, Commentary is done, achievements in place, rosters are set, cheer.....

Manager: The Wolves made another trade.

The programmer throws all of his papers into the air, shakes his fist at the sky and yells.

Programmer: KAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WW, love it! :-)

I'm picturing the office in Grandma's Boy as being the scene for that exchange.

I'm OK with Carney if he's on a short, cheap contract. What this team really needs is someone like Carney that actually has some basketball skill to go with his athleticism.

I'd rather see Carney back then gone myself, granted I felt the same about Sheldon Williams at a lower price too.

I agree. A one year deal I have no problem with.

How can a guy like Carney (who lacks pretty much everything but speed) continue to be an NBA prospect? It's just not right. No way do I want him back ... his presence represents virtually nothing other than a "cheap" roster spot with someone who "thinks" he's a SG. He has no fricken idea what a real SG is.

Anyone who thinks this team is taking a step forward (with resigning Carney) is out of it

While I don't really think Carney will ever turn into much of anything, you are turning into quite a dick lately, Dewey.

I feel like there is a lot of sexual tension in this forum lately.
