Best drafting teams in the past 20 years

82games has a couple very interesting articles about the best drafting teams in the past 20 years, the best value picks in the past 20 years etc.

They break down each teams drafting record in the past 20 years, and the Timberwolves are the 5th worst, San Antonio is ranked the 4th best.
I know we had a little debate about this a few months back, whether San Antonio was simply lucky to draft the way they did, but the results speak for themselves the Twolves drafted horribly in the past 20 years.
Let's hope that we turned over a new leaf with David Kahn, and I think and hope we have. Anyway, the data is a very interesting read regardless.

Man, Siler could probably whoop P.O.B.'s tail. I can't believe we actually acronymed the guy here and everything. I had to ask people what P.O.B. meant they were throwing it around so much at that time.

notice all the guys on that list are big men? expectations are always way too high for guys that are tall.

Its interesting, but I'd like to see more methodology.
MIN has had 40 picks and had a net lower total than 0.
Does the fact that MIN has had 6 more second round picks than first rounders make this the expected results?
For example, MIN has had 23 players ranked as "Deep Bench, Bust, or DNP" which is exactly the number of seconds they had. They had 17 "star, solid, and role-players" which is their number of 1sts.
To me, this makes MIN an average drafter, but again, I don't know enough about the methodology to state this as a fact.

The biggest flaw right away is that he's comparing players to the average player at that pick #. That doesn't take into account how strong or weak of a draft it is. A good Wolves example would be Wally. Pretty decent numbers for the 6th pick. However he is barely a top 15 player in that draft. So in this system he was a good pick, but in reality he was actually a pretty bad pick. Plus the whole ppg+rpg+spg rating system. That's a terrible way to judge players.
