Mike Taylor

Post#1 » by mnWI » Sat Aug 1, 2009 1:01 am

I'm of the opinion that if the Wolves were truly interested in him, they would have acquired Taylor in the Richardson deal, but he's a good option worth exploring since the Clippers cut him today. He's a very streaky player who had a bad summer league, but may be the most explosive player in the NBA for his size, and he can really spark an offense when he's hot.

He's still learning the point position, but does see the floor quite well, and can carry a team when he's hitting from long range. He had a nice rookie season, with a couple of huge games late in the year. For the league minimum, this is the type of player worth looking at.

There's his game log from last year, and here's a look at his freakish athleticism:

rather have Woodside as a project than Taylor... heck i'd rather have pruitt or Sun Yue than Taylor. Former clippers are never a very good idea to add to your team.

I think we should give up on the Woodside fantasy.

id look into him personally, he is definitely worth a look. FWIW Gabe Pruitt was released by the Celtics recently as well

i watched woodside play in town here for the last 2 years. dude has swaggers, i have only seen a couple of guys step onto a court with the look that they know they are going to score at will and do it night in and night out. we need more people who can shoot from outside, gomes and Q are too streaky.

Odom is still questionable. one night he can dominate and the next he disappears. a far cry from "the next KG" he was being billed as when in a clipper uni.

i'm just thinking: Olowakani, Manning, Mo Taylor, Brand, Baron Davis, Maggette, Livingston, Q,
Miles, McInnis, Derek Anderson, Jaric, Ely, Wilcox, Simmons... as all current or former clippers who were never quite the same or never lived up to the hype, or are in some way questioned once they donned the "other" LA jersey.

No Rubio + 1 year min deal + Flynn gets 35 min/game = Mike Taylor

I like any cheap player with potential

Milwaukee? The first rule of Wolves Club is that you do not talk about players from Wisconsin.

August 2006: Arrested for DUI. Fined and had his drivers license revoked for 6 months.
March 2007: Arrested and charged with vandalizing an on-campus apartment building. Taylor set off a fire extinguisher, tore off an exit sign and removed a light cover, causing $200 in damage. Plead guilty to fifth-degree criminal mischief. Heh, "mischief".
April 2007: Cited for shoplifting a bottle of cold medicine. Plead guilty to fifth-degree theft.
June 2007: Charged with whatever a vehicle registration violation is. Found guilty, fined $69.80 in fines and court costs.

I'll pass.

He's cleaned up his act. And it's not like those are major offenses anyway. His trip to Boise, ID to play in the D-League was the best thing that could have happened to him after leaving Iowa State; it sure as hell helped him grow up.

LOL @ the $69.80 for the vehicle registration violation. Does he have some parking tickets too?
