2 PFs are good, but a balanced team is better. If we had to choose one; who and why?

I actually think I might prefer Love considering the questionable health of Big Al, but it really makes the KG trade look bad if we only had Love. Opinions?

He is also hardly a finished product and needs to work on his ft/fg rate, passing, and defense. But he is considered a very promising young talent.

height/defense is a concern with love/Al. Offensively they are a dream situation and they destroy on the boards. Hopefully in time, and with better wings, they can be marginal on the defensive end. But even with all the ripping they get on defense Al is still a +4.5 (pf) and +7.1 (C) with net 48 production. Love, for comparison, is a -1.6 and +3.0

I think its a tough decision. Obviously, Al is probably the better player right now. However, along with that comes the fact that he probably has more trade value than Kevin right now.

Remember when Garnett was a SF?

I'm not sure if this is a debate on who we'd keep or on them together as a tandem ...

I really have no serious issues with them on the floor together. Al has to improve his passing game and Love must be a more decisive scoring threat. It's clear Love has much upside, but for now Al is the game changer of the two.

The addition of Hollins should provide some opportunity for Al and/or Love to run solo at PF, benefit from weak-side help defense, and get an extra break. If Hollins blocks 2 shots and grab 7 rebounds a game before fouling out, that would be a real bonus above & beyond the break he's provide for Love and Jefferson.

Big Al has questionable health? Did he catch the swine flu from a fatty at the club last night?

I think Al will always be the better player.

I would prefer to keep both but would go with Love if I had to choose.

Love for me. Now that Telfair and Smith are gone Jefferson's lack of passing will probably be the thing that annoys me the most this upcoming season.

Al will always be the better player, he is already one of the 3 best low post scorers in the game, great rebounder. Love will always be the better teammate, great passer, solid court sense, elite rebounder.

I'd choose Love

I guess it also depends on wether or not we'll be getting a clear cut #1 option swing man. if we get such a player I think Al might be (emphasis on might) expendable. if not, we should stick to him as he's our best offensive player. you can't win with #3 options.

Al would improve with a #1 scoring wing. he worked well with Pierce.

Love improves if you surround him with better players. He has the making of a dominate role-player in that his offense comes from clean up. Put backs-spot ups, pick/pop. Those opportunities go up surrounded by better talent.

I think the wolves should seriously consider packaging Jefferson and possibly Rubio in a blockbuster deal. Not right now off course, Jefferson needs to come back healthy and show he's still a 20-10 guy. It would be smart to sell high on him before the league realizes he's Zach Randolph with a better attitude.

It seems like Love is just so much more advanced than Jefferson; he has a higher b-ball IQ, he's a better passer, better team player, and arguably a better rebounder. And Love is 4 years younger and 10 million dollars cheaper. They both seem like 3rd options on a contender to me.

Unless Jefferson learns how to pass, then he might serve as a good 2nd option and we should probably hold onto him.

Well duh, Love's still on his rookie contract. Love will probably get as much as Al, if not more.

Yea but that's 3 years from now, we are going to use our cap space in 2010. I'm not a GM, I don't know what the market for Al Jefferson is right now, if teams would only offer expirings and mid-first rounders then obviously you hold onto him, but if their is a deal out there that improves the team I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger just because we traded KG for him.

dude these are some strong statements. IMO Jefferson is at least a great 2nd option now. if he learns how to pass he's a good 1st option but not a great one. if he'd draw a lot more fouls he'd be a great one but the way things have gone in the last years swingmen usually are great 1st options rather than big men.

I think there is work to be done before I would call Jefferson a great 2nd option. He produces like a great 2nd option, but that's as the 1st option, getting the ball on most possessions on a bad team.

It obviously depends on who our 1st option is, but I see Jefferson as the 2nd option on a 4th or 5th seed playoff team, not a legit title contender.

It's hard for me to come up with a scenario where we have a lot of success with Jefferson as a main building block. If Wade tears his ACL and we are one of the few teams interested and manage to sign him, then he returns to form, we would probably be close to contention.

What I'm trying to say is that it's difficult to build around guys like Jefferson, players that need touches to be effective, yet can't pass out of double teams. I stand by my statement that Love and Jefferson are both 3rd options on contenders. Granted that right now Love looks like more of a 4th-3rd guy, and Jefferson looks like a 3rd-2nd guy. But Love is 20.

I'd keep Love and trade big Al.
