2010 Draft -- If MIN got the 1st Pick...

Post#1 » by VelvetPancakes » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:23 pm

I know it's early, but what moves would you make? Assuming that Rubio comes over, and him and Flynn are both studs. Who do you move and why?

I think it all depends on how Flynn plays. If he can help take this team to the next level and plays great/shows signs of being a future star, i think we trade Rubio. As for getting the first pick (John Wall) i wouldn't be surprised if we traded down a couple spots to grab Cole Aldrich, Paul George etc.... and acquiring a star player too, but who knows.

BPA. Whether that means trade somebody, trade the pick, or straight draft someone.

Wall is a better prospect than Rubio IMO. I'd draft him and trade Rubio.

If this happens I hope Rubio still has lots of value. This whole Rubio fiasco could turn into a #1 pick(John Wall) AND whatever pieces we can get for Rubio. I wouldn't bank on the 1st pick though. Although I'd like our chances if Jonny Flynn is our representative.

I agree wuth Rev. You can't pass on the BPA if you have the #1 pick. Not only does he have a lot of potential, but he comes with built in publicity and marketability.

I like Rubio better, but they are very different types of players. I think they could compliment because of that. Either way, you draft value and sort it out later.

True but I'd rather have Wall/Rubio than Wall/Flynn because of size. I'd trade Flynn.

Wolves are in a great situation for this whole next year.

1.) Drafted the BPA ... Flynn and Rubio.
2.) Will very likely have atleast one high pick in the 2010 draft.
3.) Salary cap flexibility.
4.) Jefferson and Love.
5.) Trade Power

We starting to gather in some legitimate basketball players.
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

we still need a long and athletic SF that can roam the court and wreak havoc defensively and a SG that can Get Buckets

maybe Aminu and Bradley or something, don't know if we can do any better in the draft than that

Wouldn't having Rubio or Wall play big mintes off the ball potentially hurt their development? I was thinking we would trade Rubio for a stud wing and have Flynn in a backup/sixth man type of role. Devilz is right though, this franchise getting the #1 pick is laughable.

I don't know if would hurt Wall or Rubio's development any more than it would hurt Flynn's. Whatever you can do with Wall/Flynn, I think you can do with Wall/Rubio.

I dunno. I worry I am going to be obsessed with Evan Turner all year. I liked the kid a lot last year.

John Henson--if he can play the 3---could be an interesting option.
