The Knicks are again pushing to make a trade for Ricky Rubio, according to a league source that spoke with the Star Tribune.
Minnesota would like acquire restricted free agents David Lee, Nate Robinson and a future No. 1 pick in the deal, while receiving cap relief for Mark Blount and Brian Cardinal.
Three separate sources that spoke with Newsday have shot down the Star Tribune's report, at the very least the possibility of Lee being included.

I just wanted to know what your thoughts were on this. Do you think this would be a wise move or not?

Why are you so curious? Are you trying to intercept Rubio while he is being transported to NY so you can **** him?

I wonder if they will get a 3rd team involved, maybe Portland?

Maybe, they still need a backup PF after Milsap, wonder if they have interest in Jefferson

Lee and Robinson are more valuable for trading than Cardinal and blount. Also, I do not think Rubio is as much of an asset as people think he is. Flynn is our pg. having rubio come here in 2 years would only cause conflict between the two.

No they aren't, unless they are signed for 1 yr deals. A lot of teams are looking for money. Not only the ones going after top FAs either. Alot of teams will be shedding salaries with the dropping salary cap, and thus, the dropping luxury tax. If those two are so valuable, then why hasn't anyone signed them? They are nothing but role players, and I might not even pay the MLE for them.

This trade would be the worst case scenario. I would rather have Rubio never play for the Wolves than have the Wolves waste money on Lee and Robinson.
For the record I am 100% on board for trading Rubio. Just not for crap like this.

What world do you live in where the most double doubles in the league(more than Dwight Howard) and still improving, is crap? Don't even mention D'antoni because he's done it with Isiah.
Rubio's value is going down every day now but the Knicks are clearly offering a life line here.
Best case scenario with Rubio sticking with the Wolves is that he comes in 2 years and still needs another 2 years or so to adjust to American ball. All the while competing with Flynn, whom many think of as a future cornerstone of the franchise.
Worst case scenario is that he stays in Europe and your asset is absolutely wasted. This is a very real possibility.
If the Knicks offer anything around the value of a #5 pick that is playing in the NBA this season, the Wolves would be foolish not to jump all over it.

With a trade centering around getting Lee, Nate and a future 1st to the Wolves, that could easily be flipped to 2 1st rounders for Rubio essentially.

We dont WANT to trade Rubio so you can keep your overrated big, chucker 6th man and a first rounder that isnt available until the world ends.

No matter what happens, I think Minn made the correct pick. Everyone said this year was a weak draft and you guys got a player that you can easily trade for a top 5 pick next year or the year after.
If I were the Clippers, I would offer the Clips 2010 1st rounder and give Minn's protected 1st pick back for Rubio. That being said, I think Minn can still do better.

easily? please explain how easily. i'm afraid i don't see it. if Ricky's value at this point is so low that all we can get is Lee/Robinson for him and some actually valuable expiring contracts, wouldn't it be more worth it to take the loss of Rubio and use the expiring contracts to get players that actually fit and not have to worry about re-flipping them?

I like that idea a lot. They are still under the cap so I think something like this would work:
Portland
In: David Lee (S&T- 4 yr/$30 Mill starting @ $7 Mill)
Out: Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw, 2010 2nd Rounder
NY
In: Rubio, Outlaw
Out: Lee, Gallinari, Protected 2012 1st Rounder
Minny
In: Gallinari, Fernandez, Portland 2010 2nd Rounder, NY 2012 First Rounder
Out: Rubio
I think this works out even with Lee being a BYC player since Portland is still roughly $3 Mill below the cap. I'm not sure what Rubio makes so Brown could be added to make sure we don't take on too much salary. The extra 1st could help us move Songalia's contract as well.
Flynn/Brown
Fernandez/Ellington
Gallinari/Brewer/Gomes
Love/Songalia
Al/Hollins
Thoughts?
