Ric Bucher ranked four scoring guards who are currently free agents (Iverson, Flip Murray, McCants, and Head) who produce but also tend to cause headaches. He ranked both production and toxicity on a 5-point scale.

Here's McCants:

Production 4
He's a career double-digit scorer (barely 10ppg but still) who's equal parts fearless sniper and crushing dunker. His 30 points in 39 minutes late last season is hard to overlook.

Toxicity 3
Over 82 games his roller-coaster mood wears down coaches and teammates alike. "The stuff behind the scenes is sometimes scarier than what you see on the court" says one assistant GM.

Worth it?
"He could be one of the best scorers in the league" says one GM. "Teams look for consistency, though - not just in play but in demeanor. And he's never had either".

"crushing" dunker?

I must say that I cannot remember many "crushing" dunks by Mccants.

off the top of my head I can recall three facials in his three seasons he played with us. in his rookie season when he put Camby on the wrong side of a poster, in his 3rd season dunking on two Hornets players and later in that season when he dunked on Maxiell (I think)

McCants is a nice scorer...he just never got it together though. He's worth a look at...

...not for the Wolves though. :D

McCants would fit well with a good low post player and good team defenders like the Spurs if they didn't have so many wings already. Maybe the heat if he only had to spell Wade a few min a game or the Knicks where all he has to do is shoot if he gets the ball in his hands.
