Ricky Rubio obviously wanted Sacramento from the start. He liked our team and the youth of players we have. And believed that he can play maximum minutes at the point guard position. Which was a realistic possibility. But in one source, we never consider Rubio with the fourth pick.

Did Rubio genuinely never liked Minnesota from the get go?

David kahn is responsible for this mess. i realize the wolves have the right to draft any player they want, but you are dealing with real agents here, this is not NBA 2k...

There are rumors circulating that Ricky won't be the starting point guard for Barcelona, and that he will compete for playing time there. I need KISN-Dudes to confirm it, though.

Not the best game to draw conclusions. It was a total blow out by Lithuania in the second half.
Ricky, in my opinion, played well, specially in the first quarter. Very active and effective in defense and taking the right decisions without trying to be always the flashy passer.
It looks like he has gained some confidence after seeing his future solved.

You guys do know that Rubio played with a pg this last year?

Kid is 6'4/6'5 with a 6'9/6'10 wingspan. Once he fills out he will be defending Sg not the pg spot. So having a player who can defend the pg spot in Flynn is important. Regardless, Rubio is value and flynn is here.

That's a big negative if rubio can't defend his own position. Reminds me of the other big point guard from europe the wolves traded their starting point guard and spent a 1st round pick on - Marko Jaric. Hopefully, for all of our sakes, he is better than that and can defend the point. Otherwise I'm not optimistic about his future in the NBA as a tweener. He may actually have a much better career staying in Europe where the speed and athlecticism on the perimeter isn't as great.

He never said he can't, he said he won't, meaning if hes on the court with a smaller, quicker teammate like Flynn.

Kobe used to guard Bowen when they played the Spurs, did that mean he was the worst perimeter defender? No. It just means thats how they wanted to match him up. Its actually more of a plus because he can defend his own position, plus the offguard slot if he needs to.

I don't know if he can or can't. But to me Rubio's value is alot higher if he can.

It all depends on his speed. I think he will be able to defend both due to his wingspan and defensive awareness. But for the sake of Flynn we could have Rubio as a key part of a 3 guard rotation with a Turner type. When Turner is in Rubio defends the 1, when Flynn is in Rubio defends the SG. I personally think Rubio will be better defending the SG because he can shut down passing lanes.

I like what Kahn is doing. At least, he is doing things. He has worked really hard so far, LOL.

My bad, for some reason my memory had him playing pg with the grizzlies. Glad to hear he will be working with a top pg in Lakovic.

I have a question? Say Rubio decides he would rather come in 3 years instead of 2 like the ESPN/Sheridan article suggests, and instead of being on a rookie contract has to be paid more in the 30-40 mil year range, what whould your opinion of drafting him?
