Brutal for the Kings and WAY too good for the Wolves.

Of course the Kings say no, but I don't think Utah does it either. If Kahn managed this, I'd bake him a cake.

While Kevin Martin may be the best player on the Kings, most Kings posters realize that he is not a superstar they can build their team around, and they have created several trade scenarios for Martin that aren't too far from this. They may want some sort of assurance they are getting a better pick, or to move Udrih before they sign on. Its just so tough to make deals involving the Knicks pick, since different posters have such a variable view of its worth.

No doubt about it. This deal just needs more.

Martin is their star player. Attendance is at an all-time low, and Cardinal, Ellington + the NY pick would just kill it further.

Personally, I'm not too high on Martin, but he is worth more to the fans. They expect either an established star player in return, or someone to take Udrih or Nocioni AND a they get an expiring plus a really enticing prospect.

If the NY pick ends up being top three, then I think they would consider it. But by that point, this deal, with the current players, is pretty much off the table.

I think timing is the main issue with this deal more than anything.

I should point out that the Kings lost a lot of money last year, and its money that their owners, the Malouff brothers, might not have. Already some of the poorest owners, I read something a few months back that the recession may have hit their net worth more than any other owners. What, don't people gamble if they can't afford to lose?

Kings fans admit to my points, but say that the rest of the Malouff family would step in with their considerable fortunes. Sacramento is a mid-size market, very similar to Minneapolis/Saint Paul in size.

Outside of the NCAA tournament, tourism was down in Vegas a lot, so I'm sure they were hit hard.

I'm sure there'd be some financial motivation to move Martin, but they'd still have to get some kind of value in return to be able to sell it.

Martin isn't a #1 option, but he's a very good player who isn't horribly overpaid. We'd have a nice back court with Flynn, Sessions, Martin, and hopefully Ellington plus two good bigmen. Definitely put us closer to where we need to be to compete.

Also, would you add Pekovic's rights for Kings to make the trade work. I still think Jazz would do the trade because Knicks and Jazz picks would end up with a 7 positions or a bit less or more and Jazz would accept $8.5M for that difference because of their financial needs.

Financial savings is too often neglected on these boards, when you see it so often in the real NBA. I don't disagree that the Knicks pick could be Top Ten, but its $8.5 mil and another 1st.

$3M for a 21 pick. I am talking about $8.5M to move from 16-19 to 5-11? And we are talking about the future. We are talking about DAntoni, a coach that is capable of turning scrubs into role players and role players into borderline stars, LOL.

Dantoni coaches the Knicks, not the Jazz, and those ranges should be more like 1-11 and 16-23. I think the difference in those ranges is potentially very significant and probably worth more than 8.5 million.
