TRADE FLYNN

Post#1 » by NewWolvesOrder » Sun Sep 20, 2009 2:01 pm

this probably won't be popular move here, but Kahn collected a lot of assets at PG spot and it would be wise to transform them in good players at other positions. I'd choose to trade Flynn because Sessions is ready to start now and is still 23, Flynn may not be ready to do so, and even if Ramon doesn't develop much Kahn can bring Rubio in 2-3 years.

TRADE 1

wolves out Flynn, in J.Green
knicks out Hill, Darko, in Flynn, E.Thomas
thunder out J.Green, Thomas, in Hill, Darko

TRADE 2

Gomes & Atkins for Harpring & Maynor
Gomes won't be needed with Green on board, Maynor can be a long-term cheap backup pg.

Sessions/Maynor/Daniels
Pavlovic/Ellington
Green/Brewer
Love
Jefferson/Hollins

this team can easily improve to 30-35 wins, will have max money to spend next summer, even if we lose the pick to clipps, other picks and rights to Pekovic and even Rubio can be traded to move back into top 10 to get the desired player, cough Turner cough...

If we can get Jeff Green for Flynn, then I don't think you're going to get a lot of complaints.

I just don't think we can get a 17/7 soph for Flynn.

How about we let the kid play first before trading for a negative PER guy that's 3 years older?

What does negative Per mean? Does it mean that his opponent had a higher Per than Green?
well that's understandable since he's playing out of position and can't defend other PFs effectively except those who operate on the perimeter, and gets outrebounded due to lack of size.

Why don't you look at his skillset rather than looking at Per? Green has a good size for SF, quick feet to play good perimeter defense, good outside shot, good bbiq, allaround play, good passer and rebounder for SF. You know that he can produce results in this league.

Flynn is an unknown, he can be great or he can be a bust, hes got size issues, turnovers, his good SL apearance doesn't mean much, Foye was finishing at will in his first SL, and got MVP award, but was a poor finisher at the rim in his days in real NBA play and he was 3 inches bigger. There's Flynn, Sessions and Rubio in Europe. one or even 2 of them will have to go. Sessions is proven and still has potential, Rubio has the highest upside. I was never big on Flynn to begin with, there's a reason he was projected in the middle of the first round the whole last season, then had a good tourney and good workouts, and his stock went up, this whole situation reminds me of Randy Foye, good summer league and everybody is in love with him. Flynn has potantial but he's far from a sure thing.

We're not going to get Jeff Green for Flynn. OKC doesn't need a starting PG anyways. I'd do that trade but for now, KEEP FLYNN!!!!

I think Green is a great player (I think sometimes he can be overrated) and a decent upgrade over Gomes, but I just want to keep rebuilding. In a few years when Rubio hops on over than I would consider it to be possible, but it really depends on how good of a player Flynn becomes. Our roster would be a very balanced team with our guys playing their true position (and I believe Green will improve as he slides to SF). Decent trade idea, but I hate the timing as we are not in a win now mode.

If Kahn didn't sign Sessions I would never trade Flynn especially with Rubio overseas, but I think Sessions can easily turn out the better player between him and Flynn, I'd rather trade one guy for an upgrade at another positions than have to roll with another undersized backcourt. How about not undersized Wolves for a change, I couldn't stand Telfair/Foye or Telfair/Ollie combination.

Trade Flynnnnnn? :o

I think Wolves must sign another PG because Sessions or Flynn or both maybe become a bust.

And it's just as likely (if not more so) that Flynn becomes much better than Sessions. So, why trade now before we even get an idea of what either can do for this team?

I'd rather trade one guy for an upgrade at another positions than have to roll with another undersized backcourt.

Why does it matter? We're not looking to win this year anyway.

I am 100% opposed to trading any of our core players until we see them together for a season.

Flynn, Sessions, Ellington, Brewer, Love, Al.

I would even throw Gomes into that mix. Let them play a season together, see how they gel, see who shines in our new system. See how they develop under good coaching. Re-evaluate next offseason, worry about balancing out the roster at that point.

He's a negative PER at both PF and SF. As in he gives up more than he produces no matter what position he plays. They're logged seperately. The Thunder also are better per possession offensively and defensively when he's on the bench than when he's on the court. As great as you want to make Jeff Green sound, that just actually isn't the case when he does play small forward. Even in his sophomore year he was consider a below average player. He's 23, played three years of college ball and two in the NBA already. He's not going to get THAT much better. I wouldn't argue taking him on my team, but no chance in hell I'd trade a good lottery pick for him.

While I agree that we'll probably trade Flynn, Sessions, or Rubio down the line, it's not necessary to do it now unless you get a deal that can't be turned down. For instance, I would probably trade Flynn for Eric Gordon straight up if it was offered. But balance sure doesn't matter much right now when it would really benefit the team to get one more top 10 lottery pick to add to the core.

The Knicks are getting Flynn for Hill, that doesn't seem right.
