What's up with Jefferson's rebounding?

Jefferson seems to have much of his mobility, yet his rebounding number are way down from previous years.
His rebounding percentage has fluctuated between 17.2% and 19.5% every year of his career. This year it is 9.8%.
He is averaging only 5.6 reb/gm

He wasn't originally expected back until January. It's November. Give him time before grabbing your umbrella.

Also, granted no K. Love but the team has done their part. Especially Gomes, Sessions and Brewer to name a few off the top of my head.
I never thought about it much, but his offense could come before his rebounding since positioning yourself for rebounds has to put a good amount of stress on the knees. He has to feel comfortable planting himself on the floor and using his legs to leverage himself against another big body. Compared to his J or some intererior moves (still stress, but a different type).

Rebounding is all about position and timing. Timing is often one of the last things to get back after a serious injury. He'll be fine, he just needs some more time to get back in game shape.

Brass is protecting him. I saw a grimace on his face pivoting down low.

Jefferson was always a "positioning" rebounder. Not a leaper. He seems to have relatively good mobility. I know its early and it will take months to fully recover from his injury, but I wonder if he's afraid to "mix it up" for fear of being hurt again. In this instance, thats more of what I see that lack of "timing". He's starting to successfully use his spin moves. Those take great timing. I think its more fear of being hurt again.

Which is normal, and really not that big of a deal at this point in time when everyone knows we're not competiting for a playoff spot this year.

Al is still working his way back from a major injury, he will be fine.

I mentioned this in the game thread. It could be the injury, but part of me thinks it might be the weight he lost.

I'm a huge fan of rebounding and I noticed. Al isn't Al, it will be months before he truly is. We just have to give him lots of time.

It might also have something to do with all the post defence being focused on him with Love out. At the moment he's the only dominant rebounder on the team, and opposing big men no full well who to box out.

Al was thinner in his boston days, and still rebounded at roughly the 17% to 20% level. Its not a change in size of body, its a change in attitude. I think he is likely to come out of it.
But it is an concern, to me at least. That was always one of his strengths is rebounding.
He wants to be an All-star. Al isn't an allstar with his rebounding at 6/gm.

I don't understand why it's a concern. If he was never hurt last year, and came into this season at 100%, then sure, makes sense to be concerned. But to completely ignore he's coming off a major injury shows either an agenda, or a lack of understanding.

Positioning rebounder or not, I don't think there's a player alive who's rebounding wouldn't be affected by a loss of quickness and explosiveness. Otherwise, Moses Malone would probably still be averaging 15 rebounds a game at the age of 50.
If Al isn't rebounding by the end of the season, then I'll start to be worried.
