NO cuts money AND ends up acquiring the best played CP3 will have ever played with. Paul and Jefferson are player who both require a lot of attention from opposing defenses - if the defense focuses on Big Al, Paul will tear them apart. If they focus on CP3, dump it to Al in the post.

Wolves get a lot of things they need here. They solidify their front court (Love, Okafor, and West) - and I believe all three players could be on the court at the same time. They get the leadership, professionalism, and winning attitude that they're sorely lacking right now.

Okafor contract = yuck.

I think that is a board ban worthy trade.

If NO couldn't get it done with CP3, I don't see Minnesota faring any better. Far too big of a risk for me.

He didn't say anything about Al. You are obviously undervaluing Blount.

I just think that if we are moving Al then do it for a legit starting win. This is a lateral move at best.

If you believe Al is one of the top 10 or 15 players in the league, there is nothing but lateral moves. If you move Al, it's for better intangibles and better fit. David West is a two-time All Star, Al Jefferson is a zero-time All Star.

I don't really think appearances in a popularity contest means too much in this case. If we're trading Al for better fitting parts, I'd either want an established wing of equivalent talent (such as Iggy) or a pairing of a promising young player(s) and a high pick.

Just examples, I haven't bothered matching salaries:

Brook Lopez + 1st
Thad Young + Speights + 1st

Neither of those is realistic from the points of view of New Jersey or Philadelphia respectively.

I don't like Okafors contract and that trade doesn't even address our worst needs.

I don't trade Al Jefferson for two other PF 's.

This team isn't ready to think positionally. This trade would be about attitude and talent.

Yeah. But if I'm trading my best player I want at least a player in return that actually fits into my line-up.

I'd trade Al only for a legit C or a star-wing. Love can very well be the starting PF of this team.

I don't think it's fair to judge a player based on how many MVP awards they won or All Star appearances because it's all based on votes. I hear the argument, well he's won more MVP awards. I would argue it's subjective and only tells part of the truth. Simply put, Allen Iverson was an All Star starter last season.

You seem kind of down on Jefferson lately?? First, you turned down Trader Joe's trade proposal that would've gotten us Chris Paul while keeping Jefferson, Flynn, and our 2010 first, and now you are trying to facilitate a Jefferson + cap space deal for West & Okafor.

Jefferson should only be moved for a legit 7 footer who can play defense, or a stud wing who can score.

Well, for this one, like I said, I don't know how I feel about it. I remain on the sidelines until I hear more opinions, but I posted this because I felt I could financially make the deal better for both teams.

As for the Chris Paul deal, I don't remember the specific deal, but I seem to remember it involved huge amounts of money plus huge amounts of talent (Love, Rubio, better of our picks, maybe Sessions) etc. I understand its a superstar league, but for any player, there's a limit to how much incremental value he can add to a team.

I'm more in a "wait-and-see" position on Jefferson. I think in someone's "Trade Jefferson" thread I pointed out that he is a highly valued player among the Trade Board posters, and that 23-11 guys that can play center are very rare and valuable. I think his age, and having him locked up in an under-market contract increase that value, and who knows how much additional worth he has here, since he wants to be here? I think when he's 100%, a lot of his detractors will not be so eager to move him, but even then, I think anyone is tradable for the right price.

True - I'm not trying to be hard on you, just trying to get some more of your thought process. This seemed like an easy no to me, but you seemed interested in it from when it was proposed.

I believe it was Love, Rubio, Sessions, plus filler, plus the better of the Utah and Charlotte picks for Paul, Posey, Peterson, and Ike.
I did some inferring with relating this to Jefferson, but adding a superstar in Paul while being able to keep our best player in Jefferson along with a tradeable asset in Flynn and not touching our 2010 1st seemed like a pretty good core group of assets - unless someone is really down on Jefferson. I know there is still the deadweight of the Posey and Peterson contracts, but they are 12-13 in 2010-11 and 6-7 in 2011-12, which didn't seem too unreasonable for getting Paul.
