MIN - CHA - ORL

Charlotte, is that you?

Narf mentioned this in another thread, and I thought it was interesting. I could definitely see CHA enjoying Ramon Sessions. Ray Felton does not look like a Larry Brown favorite, after Ray and the Bobs shotgun wedding.

Unfortunately, getting Sessions there might be difficult. The team doesn't have much for expirings, save Felton's BYC contract. Session provides a valuable role here as well, but it's really "only" going to result in a few more wins.

Maybe Orlando is the answer? Jameer is lost for 6-8 weeks, and while they say they won't add another PG, I would imagine they'd love to have more wins and home court advantage in the play-offs. Could Felton help? And BTW, they carry a big enough TPE to ignore Felton's BYC.

What about something like?

MIN GETS: JJ Redick + $1 mil TPE + Reduction of the protections on the CHA pick (Top 8 protected?)
MIN GIVES: Sessions

CHA GETS: Sessions, $2 mil TPE
CHA GIVES: Felton + Reduction of the protections on the CHA pick (Top 8 protected?)

ORL GETS: Felton
ORL GIVES: JJ Redick

Expensive (an additional $5.5 mil) for Orlando since they are over the lux, but they are a better team this year, and Felton expires, so its a one-year shot.

Sessions is worth far more then an exp contract. I would not think the reduction of protection is worth much either because with jackson they should be avg.

If we trade sessions then combine him with an exp and get a big time wing. Otherwise get a future unprotected first.

I would take a future protected first, actually. 2 years after they give us their first pick, they owe us another (top 10 protected, then top 7, then top 3, with contingencies if they bottom out on the first pick...aka a couple of 2nds + cash)

I think its hard to gauge how much CHA values Felton. In most cases where a player just finishes signing a contract, I'd say that player has neutral, fair-market value. However, that may not be the case here because:

1. Felton's been complaining, and turned down their long-term offer.

2. The Bobcats didn't have another PG to take Felton's place late in the off-season

3. Felton is said to not be a Larry Brown-type player, and he appears to not like Felton.

4. The team is doing poorly, and the team wants to win now (added salary for S-Jax).

Now Sessions may be an improvement over Felton in all these areas. Is he enough to get CHA to give up a pick? I would say that for most teams, the answer is no, but the Stephen Jackson deal smells desperate to me, so who knows? I remain skeptical that they are going to put together a winning season, with or without Jackson and Sessions. Just too many cooks and not enough stew.

From what I've read from CHA, and from their posters, the reason the team has been losing is because neither have been getting the job done .. or at least done the way Larry demands. Personally, I like Augustin, and wouldn't mind a Sessions deal where he comes back to MIN (like we need more PG's).

Augustin is a lateral move with Flynn here. We need to either clear cap, gather future assets/flexability or bring in the dominate wing player.

What's up with your boy Wallace this year? Shooting % is way down.

I just brought up Augustin to point out that even without Felton, Charlotte does in fact have a PG. There certainly would be no need for us to trade for him.
