Por/Min/Hou/NYK Mega Blockbuster (15 player trade)

Minnesota in: Ariza, Fernandez, Outlaw, Mills, Milicic, Hughes
Minnesota: out: Jefferson, Gomes, Blount, Cardinal, Ellington, Wilkins
Why for Minnesota: We are 29th in the NBA in 3P%. Fernandez may change that to a more respectable level (and and the fact he played with Rubio doesn't hurt). Ariza is an unselfish lockdown defender. Cap Space: 19,234,075 :eek2:

Portland in: Cardinal, Ellington, Gomes, Landry
Portland out: Fernandez, Mills. Outlaw, Przybilla
Why for Portland: Outlaw will be out 3-5 months, Batum will be out until at least February, Pendergraph will be out until until somewhere in Janurary, and Mills has a broken foot.

Houston in: Jefferson, Wilkins, Blount, Przybilla
Houston out: Ariza, Landry, McGrady
Why for Houston: Ming and Jefferson and teammates sounds scary good. Przybilla is a more than a decent backup for this center.

New York in: McGrady
New York out: Hughes, Milicic
Why for New York: This doesn't need an explanation.

Why should anyone help New York for practically nothing?
Because this trade has the potential to drop Utah's pick a few spots. I wanted NYK to offer something more, but the only pieces they would ever offer aren't that appealing.

I can't say I'm too much of a fan of this from a Portland fan's perspective.

I like the trade for everyone but Portland

Houston gets way too good of a deal. Jefferson is by far the best player in here, and they get him and Pryz for Ariza an expiring and a role player.

while this might fill some need we still trade away our best player which is something a team in a position like we are shouldn't do at all.

I revised it one more time with basically with Landry and McGrady going to New York and David Lee going to Portland. Interest quickly fading, don't know if I can care much longer.

Seems a lot better.

I guess the deal breaker will then be that Portland doesn't want to make such a big roster shuffle during the season.

Another issue at bay with David Lee being included is contract length. Lee becomes a RFA after the season and even if PDX were able to retain him, the asking price would be high. With Rudy, we have the protection of a rooking contract and the ability to match any offer when his contract's up. Przybilla isn't as good as Lee all around, but I'm perfectly fine with Joel remaining our C as he's been very solid in a backup role.

This post from a HOU poster on the Trade Board cracked me up.

Anyway, if you can maneuver this so POR retains Pryzbilla, I think you'll have better luck, but its a good start. Personally, I'd hold onto Jefferson for at least a month.

Tanks, but I think I'm going to throw in the towel on this variation of the trade. I might just replace Fernandez with Courtney Lee, but that's for another time.

Fernandez, Ariza and Mills would be nice, but the thought of having Hughes and Milicic makes me shudder. Love would have to put up more shots in the post than I would like, and we'd have an even bigger hole at centre.

Yuck...No deal! We could get a better deal for AL and even add more cap space if we wanted too. We can just sign players; we want and BUILD a team, and not just trade for the sake of it. This takes away our freedom by sticking us with player we may not want long term.
