You may be right, but they would work much better together than Rubio and Flynn, who may never end up in the same backcourt.

I only threw in Curry because Minny took two PGs at 5 & 6. Curry can easily play at SG for extended minutes, unlike Rubio, Flynn, or Sessions.

You guys had so many options in this draft! Curry, Casspi, and Buddinger would have given you the shooting that you now lack, and Casspi can play at the 3 or 4 and give you good hustle minutes and D. And if Flynn did not work out, you would have had Curry to play PG.

And you know the Knicks would have offered you #8 and some kind of player or future picks for Curry if you had wanted to go that way.

Instead you take Rubio, who does not want to play with you and cannot play in the same backcourt with Flynn, trade away your # 18, and end up with Ellington, an undersized 2, who has not been the player that many (including myself, actually) expected him to be.

We (the Knicks) are going through our own second guessing because we took Hill over Jennings this year, and many criticized the Gallinari pick last year (Fewer are vocal about his being picked this year.), but the T-Wolves could have had an embarrassment of riches in this draft, and failed to take advantage of the hand they were dealt.

1. It's Rubio or Flynn for whatever we eventually trade one (or both) of them for. Too early to judge there.

2. It's Casspi vs whoever we get with Charlotte's 2010 #1. Too early to judge that one as well.

3. Budinger's shooting touch would probably help us right now. He got picked just ahead of us. It's hard to say if anyone would have taken our #45/47 for us to move up.

You're about 6 months late the party. Fact.

It doesn't matter whether Flynn and Rubio work together because one will be traded anyway.
Rubio never said he doesn't want to play here. He doesn't have the money to buyout his contract alone. Rubio wants to play in the nba which means he'll either play in Minnesota or will be traded.
So he'll either become our starting point guard or bring in a nice piece in return.
You say Curry can play the 2 for extended periods of time while being even more undersized than Ellington.

And it is not like Casspi or Budinger would have fixed our whole team like you make it sound. We would have won 3 or 4 more games if we had a decent shooter, yeah. But neither would have solved our problems. They are nice role players but we've got enough role players. We need a stud wing, not a solid one. Budinger is actually a very average shooter if you haven't noticed that yet. The only player we had in our eye @#18 was James Johnson. He wasn't there anymore so we decided to trade that pick for a future pick who will probably be just around #18 in a deeper draft.

I agree with you that our draft doesn't look like a home run right now with Flynn having trouble at times and Ellington doing not so well but neither of the players who were picked right behind Flynn (Curry, Hill, DeRozan) do. We are a rebuilding team and went BPA I'm fine with that.
I hate that neither of Harden and Evans fell to us but you couldn't expect that before the draft.
Don't care about missing out on Jennings. He's AI light. I don't think he'll ever be first option on a contender and he'll demand to be first option anywhere. You just need to look at the amount of shots he takes as a rookie and you now it is not going to end well with him
It is not like we completely lost that draft. Flynn is a solid PG for years to come, Ellington will be a decent shooter of the bench in future and we've managed to trade a pick in a weak draft into more or less the same pick in a stronger draft. Rubio will come over in 2011 and we get at least a starter/high pick in return for him if he doesn't become our PG of the future.

I don't think those options you stated will be better for the team.

True for #1 & #2- I suppose that I assumed that you guys wanted results from this draft, but lets face it, if next year's draft is as good as advertised, you guys will get some quality players with your #1 (I am assuming you own it.) and another possible lottery coming fron Charlotte.

As for Buddinger- maybe he goes at #28?
