First win streak of the season

Post#1 » by big3_8_19_21 » Sun Dec 27, 2009 3:34 am

granted it came against the Nets and Wizards...but being the Timberwolves, any win streak is a thing to celebrate!

We're 5-8 since Love came back and 4-3 over the last 7 games.

Career high in points for Brewer (27)
Career high in rebounds for Wilkins (13)
Career high in highlight plays for Hollins (2)
And I'm assuming Love's 8 game DD streak is a career high as well.

First winning streak of the season
Season high in rebounds for Sessions (8)
Season high in assists for Jefferson (5)

great game by everyone! It seemed like Love barely had any rebounds and he still finished with 10!

Because for him, 10 is hardly any....

Yeah Hollins got the NBA.comm dunk of the night and block of the night...and that's on a night with 10 games.

What a fun player coming off the bench.

My friend said a guy behind him yellowed out, "MVP!!!" after Hollins dunked.

It's taken a while for Hollins to come out of his shell with his athleticism, but he was just showing off against the wiz. He's got the ability to become an excellent shot blocker once he improves his d a bit more.

The problem with Hollins is that he goes for the block EVERY TIME! It doesn't matter if the guy is earl boykins, Lebron James, or Andrew Bynum. His block on was Randy Foye, and I think we MN fans realize how often Foye gets sent packing when he brings those weak floaters in the paint. I'll give Hollins credit for a solid block, but he still drives me crazy because he chooses to go for the highlight over playing solid D (which he is capable of doing). For every block he has, he has twice as many fouls because he left his feet, and twice as many opposing baskets because leaving his feet left the offense a better shot. That's a 25% completion rate if 1 out of every 4 attempts results in a blocked shot (and that's being generous). Also, that doesn't account for when the team gets the ball back after a blocked shot.
I love blocks as much as (probably more) than the next guy, Eddie Griffin was one of my Favorite wolves in his day, but there is a difference between timing w/ good defense, and just always going for a block.

Yeah, that's why I said he's got the ability. He's not there yet, but if he could get his timing right he could drastically improve his shot blocking. He's only averaging 0.6 bpg and he's getting between 15-20 minutes a game. For an athletic 7 footer he could be so much better in that area.

To his credit, he is noticeably improving. His first few games were just unwatchable. I think having guys like Laimbeer and Rambis working with him is helping out alot. If he can improve his BB IQ and decision making then maybe we could get more games like last night from him.

Also, that dunk was just ridiculous to see in person... the video makes it look like most of the crowd didn't move but in my section, everyone was going nuts. I also heard MVP chants (well if 2 people count as a chant) when Flynn was shooting free throws.

The thing with Hollins is that he's never really had a chance to develop before. In this season alone he's already played as many minutes as he did his previous 3 years.
