Phili trade for impatient Wolves fans

Shrink isn't going to like this one...
Wolves trade: Gomes, Hollins, Blount, Cardinal, Wilkins, right to Bobs #1
Phili Trades: Igoudala, Dalembert, Smith
Why for Wolves -- Pros: Wolves get two things they need a starting SF and third big. Igoudala is someone who can guard the Durants, Kobes, Roys of the west, and someone who can facilitate the triangle. Dalembert would give us a large expiring to work with next year. Igoudala should hold his trade value. Pekovic could still be signed using the mid level. Cons: Will hurt our draft pick stock some -- less if this deal is consummated in February -- but Wolves would probably still be the 5th-8th worst team at the end of the year and still have good odds to move up into the top 3. Obviously no cap space for the forseeable future.
Why for Phili -- Pros: they save a LOT of money. This deal puts them about $14 million under the cap next year if they choose to cut Gomes loose. If not, they get cheap replacements for the players they sent out and still have $10 million of so in cap space. The team can afford to tank the rest of the year and improve their stakes in the John Wall lottery. Not too bad a future to build around Speights, Thad, Holiday, Phili #1 2010, and Bobs #1 2010. Cons: Fans will ignore the need for this team to rebuild and cry foul. It's pretty clear that with current roster they will be stuck in no mans land for the forseeable future -- just bad enough tot not make playoffs and just good enough to not get high lottery picks.
2010 sample Rosters --
Flynn/Session (Rubio)
Brewer/Ellington/Wolves pick (Turner/Henry or bust!! (unless we get top 3))
Igoudala/Utah pick (better of Harris/George/James)
Jefferson/Love
Dalembert/Jefferson (Pekovic)
Williams/Holiday (FA $?)
Iverson/Green (2010 Phili # 1 Turner/Henry or bust (unless they get Wall)
Thad/Gomes/Wilkins
Brand/Thad
Speights/Hollins (FA $ or 2010 Bobs pick -- Cousins?)

Since i like to complain about things, our 3pt shooting might actually get worse, didnt think that was possible.
Can we dump Pavs in this trade?
------------------------------
It may not seem like a big deal, but please don't try and get around the language filter like that. You obviously knew that would be censored....just pick a different word. I expect better from our fans here.

I'm not sure if that should be a concern. Flynn is shooting the 3 ball better. Love is shooting it. Ellington is coming on. We would have the assets to get a SG who can shoot, if not Henry through the draft, maybe we overpay for Fernandez and send Portland the rights to Pekovic + Utah pick?

It's tempting. It does hurt our flexibility for the future, but at the same time there's likely going to be a point where will be at the cap with extensions for Love, a potential FA, Rubio, and others anyway. So if we feel that Iguodala is a #1, then we probably should go for it. But that's also a lot of money tied up in the front court.
I'd be most hesitant about giving up the Bobcats pick as the roster would surely mean we're not going to have our pick in 2011, so I'd like to grab one more quality draft pick in a deep draft before then. Or using it with our pick to move up a couple spots in the draft. Of course Philly would need a decent pick to justify the trade, even with getting rid of Dally's salary.

I'd take it, after this all we would need to do is draft a shooter(Henry or W.Johnson).

I'd probably do it if we waited until the trade deadline. Then I'd want to package the Utah pick with other assets and get a 2nd lottery pick and come out of the draft with Henry and maybe Aldrich.

I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Sixers may want more, maybe Jazz pick. I would swap Gomes for Brewer, Gomes is a better shooter.

I'd do it, but then again I'm hasty. Treebeard definitely wouldn't approve. Crap I shouldn't have said that, awkward...

Let me surprise you and say -- I'll take it. I'd probably try to negotiate to keep the pick, considering we'd be taking on tens of millions of dollars.
PHI might bite too. They have longterm money problems with Brand, but they have shoprt-term ones as well. When they add their pick next season, they'll be $6-7 mil over the projected lux. [EDIT]
Also, in a deadline deal like this, I don't hate Dalembert's contract so much. We have Iggy locked up on an expensive but not impossible contract, and this summer we could offer Dalembert's now-expiring deal along with our treasure chest of assets for an elite player in a trade, or sign-and-trade.

Wow, it's unanimous then. Where are phili fans on the whole we have to blow it up an rebuild spectrum?

I've been more impressed with many of their posts lately on the trade board. They realize Iguodala is a star, but he's not a superstar and he's not going to become one. Moreover, he's paid a pretty high contract by today's standards. Some PHI fans consider him "untradable" but others see their financial situation as untenable.
In my opinion, its not really PHI's fault either. They did what I hope MIN tries. They got some decent talent, saved some cap space, and then made their play with the big bet. Elton Brand was statistically one of the best big men in the game near the end of his time in LAC, though he never got as much credit for it as he deserved. PHI tried to be competitive and paid for him, but his injury and other problems dirupted their chance for success. Now they need to rebuild, so they can take another shot. They have a ways to go, with Brand hindering their progress. They may choose to try to simply wait until 2011-12, and that's a legitimate plan, but in their shoes, I might make this trade, get a high lottery pick in 2010 and 2011, and play for 2011-12 that way.

I ran some numbers:
PHI SAVES
2010-11: $35 mil
2011-12: $9
2012-13: $10
2013-14: $16
$70 MILLION DOLLARS
That's even including if they pick up Gomes, though I applied nothing for the salary of the pick .. with this much savings, I don't think they get a pick.

Any trade that has Love comming off the bench for us afterwards is a total failure IMO.

If Philly is considering giving Iggy away for cap space, why would you even think about this deal? You are still thinking as if cap space this year was the same as cap space 5 years ago. It's not, welcome to the recession. Grab a seat, they're cheap.

I'd probably take it, although maybe take out the pick and they can keep Smith if they wanted. It's a lot of money to take on but Igoudala would be good and Dalemburt could be that 3rd big. I'd bring him off the bench though, or atleast play Love and Jefferson for the majority of the game.

I'd start Jefferson and Love and have Dally come off the bench. Still plenty of minutes for everyone, no matter who starts.
I'd do this deal also. Preferably at the deadline to lessen our chance of our pick dropping too far.

Does anyone think they would include their pick?
I am not necessarily in favor of this, but what we traded Jefferson+ for Iggy, Dalembert, Top 3 protected 2010 pick. (Thad young could be inserted if people were a bigger fan)
The reason I am not in favor of this is because I think iggy can be had for less, but I also dont think Phill gives up Iggy and a loosely protected 1st for Gomes and company. And more importantly to shrink's point, they save a ton of money, but let me rephrase and say I dont think you get philly fans to accept a deal with only role players coming back.

No no no no. They already have Brand and Speights. THey have no use for Jefferson unless we take Brand back. I imagine their first is untouchable. If you think Iggy can be had for less than expiring a mid first and Gomes, I'd like to see it.
