He pretty much said he wants to keep Jefferson and Love. He said he wanted to keep the core pieces and evaluate them, then make a decision this summer (right after calling them a part of the core). So he's not planning on trading Jefferson, but that he might do a small trade and will see what's out there.
He also said he might take a lop sided trade with the cap space from a team looking to drop a financial burden.
Said you can make an argument that Pekovic is the best European big man and he wants to come over next season.
He feels that Al is still returning and isn't what he once was yet. So he wants to wait until Al get's back to what he was before he really evaluates what to do with the team.
Love is just emerging.
Pekovic
Hollins
Jawai has some intreging potential but is not an NBA big man right now.
So we have a lot of bigs
Said he does not know who he COULD get by trading cap space, and thinks it will change over the next 2 months as the owners see the financial hit they are going to take (especially with the luxury tax) over the next 2 years.
As much as a 7-29 team can say we are operating from a position of strength, and we're not we're 7-29, but we have some good young pieces here and will have some more next year.
Rubio/Flynn
We had to have a pointguard, and we know Rubio was almost for sure going to stay one more year. Not because of Minnesota, but because of where he was drafted. If he was drafted #1 or #2 he would have come over because he needed the money to mitigate the buyout. His buyout was 5.3 million dollars for the Euro team who will only have Rubio for 2 years, which tells you something about how good he is. Rubio would have had to pay most of that himself if he came to us.
Kahn has a lot of respect for Rubio's agent. If there was an award for toughest agent in the NBA, Fagen would win it. And at the end of the day, his family situation had a lot of influence in him saying. Rubio is playing well, especially the last few weeks, and Rubio decimated Madrid. But Drafting Flynn actually made him consider coming over, because he didn't want Flynn to have a 2 year head start on him.
Q- "Do teams inquire about Rubio still"
A- "Absolutely". You can make a very very short list of players that are so-called untouchables in our league. My preference far in away, though, is that Ricky Rubio play in Minnesota.
