Former Timberwolf Rodney Carney played 10 minutes, all of them in the first half. David Kahn said before the game that he was interested in re-signing Carney, but said he and Rambis leaned more toward signing Sasha Pavlovic because they considered his all-around game better.

Ouch.

Carney is no world beater but somehow he is still about twice the player Sasha is.

What were the other strikes again? Is it the shuffling of expirings that bothers you so much? Perhaps the acquiring of top-5 picks? He really hasn't done anything very significant for you to be so fussy, imo.

Sasha struck out, but the book on him was that he could shoot the three, and play some defense.

We're going to roll the dice on some players, and they aren't all going to hit. Sasha, OPec and Hollins all fit the "I wonder if they could be good if they got more minutes?" category. I suppose the same could be said of our PGs. Anyway, we have the chance to throw minutes at prospects, and hopefully find someone that helps. Carney had that chance last year.

The Wolves were right not to extend him for $2.54 this season, and the fact that all he could get in the open market was the min ($0.85) demonstrates they made the right call. I think he's fun to watch, but not at that price. I'm frustrated that with such tremendous athletic skills that he never developed his basketball skills.

In fact I thought Carney did his best yesterday to make Kahn proud he did not re-sign him.

Carney would have complimented the running game quite well. Would have been perfect for Love's outlet passes, and most assuredly would have hit more threes, but also more airballs.

Its like which NFL kicker you want to kick you in the nuts, but Carney is like Shaun Suisham so he's gonna miss your sack 60% of the time and Sasha is like Sebastian Janikowski - he's guaranteed to connect each and every time with the force to scramble your huevos beyond repair

I really like what khans has done so far and ya your gonna get some busts but what I dont get is we traded for alando tucker and we have yet to see him play any minutes.

You're a pretty good poster John, so I'm kind of curious. What are the other "strikes" against him? Flynn is the only thing I can think of, and he's arguably been a top 5 rookie as the #6 pick (only 5 playing). Perhaps you liked Jennings or Curry better at #6? But that's not exactly a huge hit on Kahn, as all 3 of them are similarly valued at this point.

When Pavlovic was signed it was presented as a Rambis request and that Kahn didn't really care too much for Sasha. Now it's being present as a mutual decision. Honestly, I think he's deflecting some of the blame off Rambis. Spreading the wealth, or lack there of.

But seriously, how can this be considered a strike? Obviously Sasha, and Carney, were just one year stop gaps at a position where we had a perceived hole. It's not like Sasha was signed to a multi-year deal for any serious level of money. Kind of a stretch to bash on Kahn for the Sasha signing, or Carney non-signing.

I agree with Narf. He hasn't made a costly move yet. Hollins hasn't been great, but he was a long term project. Pavlovic has been horrible, but he was a no risk acquisition. No one could have predicted he would be this bad of a shooter. Tucker was paid for and we received a 2nd round pick -- in other words we didn't trade for Tucker.

Flynn and Rubio both look like they were good picks. Ellington was a great value pick.

I'm not sure what there is to complain about.
