Al Jefferson for Kevin Martin and Jason Thompson?

Have seen this posted elsewhere. Would you do it? Would Kahn? Would Sacramento?
Seems like a suitable match:
--Sacramento covets a low-post scorer and Martin is struggling to find his groove with Tyreke.
--Martin fills the Wolves No. 1 need: a scoring 2.
--Thompson is an athletic 4/5 with upside; another of the Wolves' needs.
--Al's departure clears the way for Pekovic, who otherwise would be redundant.
ESPN's Trade Machine projects -5 wins for the Wolves and +1 win for the Kings with this trade.
I don't buy the Kings' reported insistence they won't move Martin. Just talk to elevate his value, IMO. I believe they would--for the right player. Al would be that player.
I think it's clear Kahn will move Al at some point. Would this be the time? Would this be the trade? Could we get more?

Well I really don't see why for either team. Sac gives up alot of value, while we still don't get a real center.

I'm sick of Martin trades. I don't see why SAC would do it. They give up too much value here.

I want to pair Al with an outstanding shooter, not trade him for an outstanding shooter. Pairing up Al with an outstanding shooter would create phenomenal floor spacing and I think it is a lot easier to find an outstanding shooter than it is to find an excellent low post presence like Al.

Really? The Kings give up too much value? Jason Thompson isn't going to amount to much. His FG% is down 3%. His rebounding and blocks are barely up. His net per 100 possession is down 10 points. Something tells me he didn't work too hard on his game over the summer and any rookie that is worth his salt makes a big jump between their rookie and sophomore year and I would argue that Thompson has regressed.

I'd have to say yes, but Sac says no. The key here for MN is we also preserve our cap space. We'd would still be a very poor defensive team though.

I would argue his % dropped because he's relying on Evans to set him up now instead of a pass first point guard.

I agree that Martin has just been tossed around too much lately to get excited about. I also agree that trading AJ is just not a good idea. Dude is so talented, and has been so loyal and professional to the team and the fans. Class act.
********Total Game Changer acquisition for MN: NENE
Is there any way we could eat Tayshaun Prince's contract for the Pistons, and get Nene out of the deal? Untouchables here: AJ, CB4. ----> Offer Hollins, Gomes, expirings, and a late first? Is this even remotely possible?

I'm not sure I'd call the Udrih/BJax/Bobby Brown/Quincy Douby/Will Solomon crowd they used at PG last year pass first point guards. You should probably look for another argument.

Sorry; maybe this should be its own post -- I'm not totally clear on the etiquette here.
So: I want Nene on the Wolves. 3 big rotation of Al, Love, Nene with 30 mins each = way way too rad for words. I posit:
If Wolves get Wall or Turner in the draft, they trade HOLLINS+EXP+RUBIO for NENE+CONDITIONAL PICK. Is this anywhere near a realm that might be mistaken for possibility? I think it's awesome..

What do the Pistons have to do with anything?

The Pistons {EDIT: Nuggets, that is} have a player who would fill out our roster better than Martin, IMO. I'm riffing off the sentiment of
not trading Al Jefferson, and
not going for K Martin --exploring what deals we might want otherwise. I know, it's sort of diverging or ripping off this thread -- should I be posting this idea as its own thread?

Don't let the Denver Pistons fans hear you say that.

lol ok i'm in on the joke good lord someone cut me off.
So what if we asked the Nuggets instead of the Pistons? Since they're in a better position to trade Nene and all. I often transpose those two city/teams for some reason -- maybe I'm actually brewing up a 3 team trade with min/den/det...

Well the point is that he has to create his own offense more this year. Maybe you're right stating that it's not the point guards role, but more so just the Kings relying on him to create his own offense.

I don't like it. After a promising rookie season, JT has basically fizzled out this year. I don't see that he has alot of trade value right now. As for Martin, he's a good player but fragile and a terrible defender. Like someone said, he's somewhat the perimeter version of AJ, but because a big will ALWAYS have more value than a small, I wouldn't trade AJ for him.
I think Martin will eventually get traded because the Evans/Martin backcourt doesn't seem to be working (they were like 14-16 w/o Martin and 2-13 w/ him). My guess is that it would be for expirings and an asset (pick or young player) at the deadline or in the off season to a team with cap space. I don't think he'll fetch anything of AJ's value.

I'm not sure that's a strong point. Feeding off the attention given to Evans should be easier than feeding off the attention paid to the aforementioned cast of characters. 63% of Thompson's baskets last year were assisted, this year 67% have been. Seems like a wash at best. Looks like he's taking more jump shots this year than he was last year, and hitting them at a slightly lower clip, and he's not doing quite as good a job drawing fouls. It's tough to make an argument that he hasn't stagnated a bit this year, or pin the blame on the PG play.

Then I am wrong and you are correct.

I'm not against moving Al, but we'd need to come away better defensively in the end. We'd be giving up a borderline all-star PF that "they" DESPERATELY need, therefore, I would not do this trade without the Kings 2010 unconditional draft pick.
I think conventional wisdom says to stand pat and draft the BPA (Wall/Turner/?) in June with our first pick and then jostle to get a defensive C prospect mid first round. If Hollins had some defensive savy, he could have a long-term fit.

No,
Kevin Martin is incredibly overrated, overpaid and injury prone. I would *think about* simply getting him for expirings let alone actual value.
