Off-season trade idea with Houston...

Gomes and Sessions for
Battier and a future 1st

We would save nearly $1 million in cap-space next year and clear salary past next year. The 1st could offset the loss of our own to the Clippers. I really can't think of a better veteran for our team than Battier. Gomes and Sessions would fit perfectly on Houston's title run next year.

Flynn/(someone on a one year contract)/(Rubio)
Turner*/Ellington
Battier/Brewer
Love/Monroe*
Jefferson/Pekovic*/Hollins

Brooks/Sessions
Martin/Taylor
Ariza/Gomes/Buddinger
Scola/Hayes/Jeffries
Ming/Hill/Anderson

What do you guys think about this trade or a trade like this? I think we could have a line-up like this and remain under the cap to take advantage of teams at next year's deadline, like Memphis did this year.

I appreciate your attempt. It's now apparent we need to get creative. But Houston loves Lowry -- they refused to trade him at the deadline. Gomes is a downgrade from Battier. I don't think they're a team that would be interested in either player, let alone give up a first.

Lowry will need to be re-signed next season. So Sessions to HOU is interesting.

During the press conference yesterday, Morey said Lowry and Scola WILL be resigned. Not could be resigned, will be. He said those guys fit perfectly with the Rockets.

He said that the Rockets owner has given him the ok to go past the luxury tax next year. He said that next year the Rockets' cap situation will be way past the luxury threshold like few teams in the league.

So Shrink, next year you can leave the Rockets out of your luxury tax reducing proposals. Because Rockets will definitely be paying.
