Jawai to D-League

Post#1 » by Wolves Rube » Fri Feb 19, 2010 9:40 pm

"MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have temporarily sent forward Nathan Jawai (jah-WHY') to their developmental league affiliate.
The move was made on Friday before Minnesota's game against Chicago.

President of basketball operations David Kahn says he wants Jawai to get extended playing time this weekend for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, who have back-to-back games. Kahn says he wants to evaluate the 6-foot-10, 280-pound Jawai's conditioning.

Jawai has averaged 10.8 minutes in 36 games in his first season with the rebuilding Wolves. The native of Australia came in a trade with Dallas last October.

Center Darko Milicic (MIL'-uh-chich) joined the team for Friday morning's shootaround. Coach Kurt Rambis says Milicic won't be active for the game."

Making min's for Darko? I can't remember the last time we sent someone to the D-League..

"forward Nathan Jawai (jah-WHY') to their developmental league affiliate." - My favorite part of this article... Wolves fans have been asking this ALL year!! WHY?!?!

Jawai went nearly a month without playing a minute for the Wolves. He played eight minutes against Oklahoma City on Jan. 20, then didn't play again until Tuesday in Detroit and Wednesday in Washington.

If you're a huge a Jawai fan -- and who isn't? -- Saturday's Skyforce game will be shown on Versus cable network at 11 p.m."

Heres my thought. There have been reports that we will bring back Cardinal after the 30 day period. Maybe we are doing this to see if he has any game, or if he should be the one to waive if we sign Cardiinal...

I don't think his weight is that big of an issue, but the Wolves won't re-sign him. His future is most likely overseas, unless he is determined to stay in the nba, drifting in and out of the d-league.

Jawai played 30 minutes off the bench, scored 6 (3-7 FGs) and grabbed 3 rebounds in the Skyforce's OT win over the Dakota Wizards. The two teams play again tomorrow.

I'd say it was a disappointing performance, especially considering what Richard put up when we sent him down a couple years ago.

Aussies are proud to see Jawai play in the NBA. I don't think his ceiling is incredibly high but i would like to think he could be a solid player off the bench. He certainly seems to make the most of his minutes though many on this board constantly report that his stats are inflated by fluke, merely being in the right place at the right time and his shots accidently going in lol. He is better than D league, never going to be a starter, but he surely is at minimum a useful player when a big body is needed, cmon

Jawai won't make another game for us this season and likely not in the league.

We gave him a pretty good opportunity to show us something, but he came up well short of impressive. His play so far doesn't warrant a spot on an NBA roster, but maybe playing heavier minutes against softer competition will allow him to expand his game and improve.

IMO Reggie Williams wouldn't be a bad signing for us....

Jawai just had a sweet spin baseline for the easy stuff....
