MIN gets in on GSW-MEM deal?

I have to admit that I was surprised to hear that GSW turned down a deal of OJ Mayo and Thabeet for the oft-injured Monta Ellis.
I think Al > Monta, and if GSW wanted to go in a different direction, MIN could get some very nice pieces in return.
MEM GETS: Monta
MEM GIVES: Mayo + Thabeet + cap space
GSW GETS: Jefferson
GSW GIVES: Monta + Randolph (though a lesser asset is more likely)
MIN GETS: Randolph + Mayo + Thabeet + cap space
MIN GIVES: Jefferson
That's quite a haul, and Kahn appears to like those high draft picks.

I had the same thought when I read that article although I don't think we could get Randolph without including more from our end.
On the downside this means Memphis is more likely to match offers for Rudy Gay. I think that if this is true Memphis would have planned to play Monta at the 1.
PG Monta; Conley
SG Brewer
SF Gay
PF Randolph
C Gasol
Which would have been better than their current mix of players. They lose talent, but probably gain due to better fits.
I like the proposed trade for MN. We could even add R. Sessions to GS and B. Wright from GS to MN to make the trade more fair for Golden State. The Timberwolves could go after a PF in free agency as well such as Boozer, David Lee, etc.
PG (Rubio); Flynn
SG Mayo; Brewer
SF (Turner); A. Randolph
PF Love; Pekovic; B. Wright
C (David Lee); Thabeet; Hollins
and we still have our two mid firsts.

We get too much back and GSW gives up too much.

I agree with Foye. If GSW declined Monta for Mayo+Thabeet, I don't see them signing off on Monta+Randolph for Jefferson. And, to be honest, I'm not sure I'd do that for the Wolves, either. It's great value, I'm just not sold on any of the three coming back.

Provided we get the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft, I'd like to see this deal.
To MN: Gay (sign and trade), Mayo
To Mem: Jefferson, J-Flynn
If we are fortunate enough to get the first pick, we would have our point guard in Wall and a fantastic scoring punch in Gay/Mayo, rebounding with Love and our only significant hole would be at center. This move shouldn't kill our cap space, while upgrading our roster. (IMO)
Would Memphis do this? Would a possible combination of Hollins/Darko/drafted center create a solid enough roster? (Assuming Pek comes in to provide PF depth)

Why would Memphis trade away both of their wings?

I don't disagree with ny of the posts here.
As an economist, I'd point out that GSW's refusal of Mayo+ Thabeet for Monta provides two options, not just one Yes, they could love Monta, but its also possible they don't highly value Mayo + Thabeet. Al Jefferson is completely the opposite direction for them, so its possible they value Al more than Monta (like I would imagine, almost anyone does).
I included Randolph for the simplicity of understanding the intial trade, but the truth is, the additional asset your probably be smaller, or we'd send some sort of additional compensation. The problem with making a trade like this is that GSW does't have medium-value assets. They have AR and they have their pick (#3, expected value #4). Biedrins would stay to pair with Jefferson, and the rest are barely positive to slightly negative assets. We could go into great detail on the balancing pieces if we wanted for:
Jefferson + ?????? = Monta + ???????
... but there might be several pieces needed, and the lottery could play a part from either of us.

I don't know if I even want Monta...

We could add Pekovic to Memphis since we be would stacked at PF/C. He would be a nice option in a rotation with Gasol and Randolph.

Trade deadline is never over for shrink.
Nor for other Gm's. Right now things are likely being discussed for this summer.
Shrink, your trade is not balanced. We would have to give up far, far more to get Randolph. GSW is an interesting situation right now. Nobody really knows the direction they are going in. They seem to be in Limbo. They are not rebuilding, but they are not moving to contend. They have a ton of money and years wrapped in Monta, Biedrins, and Maggette. Any cap relief they gain this summer will need to go to resigning Morrow (I believe he will be offered a nice contract, I hope we sniff around--serious. .595 efg for a jump shooter is crazy.)
