Post#1 » by Dan's with the Wolves » Sat Feb 20, 2010 10:26 pm

I am curious what people think Pekovic's trade value is for this year's draft.

Hard question. The draft always will value a younger player with physical tools and "upside" (whatever that means) over established talent. (honestly the only reason Wall is ahead of Turner).

What I can promise, and I am directly quoting here. The front office loves Pekovic. (Yes, Love was the word I used) Kahn texts him and Rubio directly and we really love his talent.

Nuh-uh. Bill Simmons said that Kahn regularly has minions leave flaming bags of poop on Rubio's doorstep, ring the doorbell, then run away cackling, and that's the only contact they have. And Simmons is called the Sports Guy and has his own World on espn.com, so he must be right.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

After game Ricky's interview extract ...

En Bilbao hay mucha gente de la NBA. ¿Han hablado contigo?

Sé que ha venido un enviado de Minnesota porque me lo dijo, pero he estado concentrado con el equipo y no quiero hablar con nadie.
A lot of NBA's people is here. Did they talked with you?

I know that a Minnesota's envoy is here because he told me that, but I am focused with the team and I don't want talk with nobody,

I'm of the opinion that Jefferson and Pekovic would struggle mightily playing next to each other. What opinion (if any) does the FO have on that situation, and if they agree with me, would their love of Peko make it more likely that Big Al gets traded this summer?

I have a feeling one of the two (alleged) deals on hold until summer involves Jefferson.

The FO's love for Pekovic seems to be another hint that Al is trade bait.

As to the OP, I would put 16-18 as a guess, but that is a sharp indication that I really have no idea (just taking the safe middle bet).

There are very strong opinions of that, but we will need to leave it at that for now.

If he can:
play defense
pass out of a double team
score inside or draw fouls going strong to the hoop
and make free throws
I'll love him too.

I'm still thinking GSW is the likely destination for Al if traded. He can roll with Ellis like woah, have beans back him up on D. Perfect situation with his skillset imo.

Pek's value is probably a pick 10-20, but it's somewhat unfair. He's the most proven quantity when comparing against the draft. When we picked him he was proven, and he's proved a whole lot more. A Team in the late lotto would drool over getting a known producer vs a rookie. Say a team that just misses the playoffs but needs a post presence.

I could see the
bulls, - could def use him
jazz(nyk pick), - could use him when boozer leaves
mia - could use him imo
hou - best fit imo, but to lazy for evidence
okc - obv could use him

Anyway the offseason goes. He's a great asset to have in your pocket. The FO trades Al and he can step in and fill Al's role. The FO keeps Al they can trade him for a complimentary big in the draft maybe udoh? Maybe one of the top 10 pick prospect bigs falls into that range for misc reason.

His value is flexibility more than anything.

3 votes for 16-18??? that seems like a pretty low opinion of Peko.

This is tricky, because Pekovic is like an onion, he has layers. I went with 13-15, after Vesely/Motiejunas, right in Ekpe Udoh range.

You know how it works. I am sure we are hearing from different sides only a slice of what is happening. I am confident with whom I am talking with.

Hard to say what his value is in the draft when we don't know who will declare. With the entire college and international pool available, and with what little I know of Pekovic, I'd say 13-15. Come draft night? Likely 10-12, but who knows who (and how many) will stand out and who (and how many) will fall.

I heard he's a draft swami. :swami:

Just teasing ya mnWii. I wish there was a way we could use one of our bigs to swindle Noah away from the Bulls.

What exactly am I supposed to take from this? If you do not care about what I say then just continue to ignore me. I could really care less. I only share information because I know other I, as a fan, would like to hear anything I could.
