Johnny Flynn Scouting report?

I'm not trying to troll or have some crazy trade debate.
I'm just interested in Flynn's performance and potential so far. Coming out he had a lot of hype, like all high draft picks. Has he lived up to his billing? Are Wolves fans satisfied with his performance? What is your scouting report on him?

Pretty good basketball player, but not a great PG, at least not yet. He has pretty good vision in the open court but in the half court he has a tendency to waste time dribbling instead of getting an offense in motion. Part of this is being a rookie, part of this is a new coach/system, part of this is being surrounded by average to decent players that for the most part dont fit in the system we are trying to implement.
I havent watched as much as years past, but he seems to only drive to the basket late in the shot clock, to his credit he gets the shot up, but it doesnt always go in. He loves him some floater action, much more than I like to see, and sometimes he gets too comfortable with jumpshots.
All in all this is stuff most rookies go through, and I like Flynn, but I've never loved him. Most would agree a 6th man/sparkplug role would be good for him as he could watch a steadier PG perform with the 1st unit.
Anything I missed or am off base on please let me know.

Only thing you didn't mention was his defense... It's horrible.

He reminds me of a more dynamic bobby jackson.... to put his performance into comparison so far this season...
offensively gifted.. probably not big enough to ever be a GREAT defender, but should be okay, because of his quickness.
tough to say where his ceiling is.

He needs to learn how to finish! Has Jordan=syndrome late in the game, but can get to the rim anytime he wants. Good shooter. He plays D like Allen Iverson lots of risks. BBIQ is a work in progress.

I'd also mention that its tough to evaluate rookie PG's, especially in Rambis complex system.
The best PG's in the league right now haven't always looked great the first year.

he's got a lot of work to do, put it that way. Even Deron Williams' supposedly bad rookie year was quite a bit more efficient. I have to admit, I thought he'd be better. He's at about a 1.4 to 1 assist to TO ratio, was hoping for closer to his 2 to 1 college ratio. Hopefully after a nice training camp to get the system down with some more talent to pass to, he can get some more assists and few turnovers

Pretty much agree with everyone here. Only thing I would add is that he has a great attitude. That's probably the main reason why I think he will overcome most of his negative rookie attributes.

Didn't we just have this exact same thread a week ago? I think it was from a Lakers fan. I remember the clown trying to say Kobe was better than Flynn, that's just stupid talk.

Kobe is overrated because he has great players like Kobe around him to take off the pressure. If Flynn had Kobe next to him he'd be way better than Kobe because Kobe would be drawing all the defensive attention.
