Rivet , Nabokov, Drury updates...

From the same low-level source:

- Craig Rivet looks like he's going to be in the teal and black for a few years... the unconfirmed report is 4 years and 11 million. Source says the deal should be completed soon, but has no idea why its taking so long, and that Rivet camp may be holding out for a little more money (4-14?)

- Discussions are getting pretty serious about trading Evgeni Nabokov to the Panthers. While the Sharks are hoping to land a 1st round pick, the Panthers are rumored to be offering a 2nd and 4th.

- Chris Drury remains the top target for the Sharks this offseason. Apparently the feeling around the office is that they can justify the signing, financially, if Nabokov is dealt and Hannan isn't resigned.

Well Rivet has just signed a 4 year deal, rumored to be worth 12 million.

Toskala was dealt to TOR, essentially ending any Toskala to FLA or Drury to SJ rumors. However, the same Drury rumors can be rekindled the very instant Patrick Marleau is traded, and my buddy thinks that management is floating his name around for a good, young defenseman...

If heard that San Jose if still intersted in getting Drury. Would be a great move by San Jose to get him.

Marleau is apparently being shopped around for a young D... and of course, cap space...

Why would management shop Marleau? The guy is a stud he had one bad playoff series after a great year. And he is the face of our franchise with Joe and is our Captain.

He's not a superstar, and the feeling is our team can add a few mil to his salary to land one... they seem enamored w/Drury.

To be honest I'd rather have Marleau than Drury. Marleau plays with much more grit and edge. He's also a better playmaker and skater in my opinion.

Drury may be a better all-around player because of his defensive skills, but I'd still take Marleau in a heartbeat.

Briere has become a target as well... I'd be surprised if we struck out on these 2 ex-Sabres.

I really don't want Drury, hes gonna cost a lot and top to bottom the next few years are way better in free agency
