It would been really bad if we lost again, we need to start making our 3s like we should. At this point trade one of Patty/Seph for some defense.

Might be but I doubt it , he was at the game ( for slightest set back doctors would advise him to stay home and rest )I can understand Ben , lower back injuries it’s not a joke , can immobilize a person to the point it’s hard to lift anything , walk , go to the restroom let alone play pro sports , hopefully it’s just a precaution

Nets are gonna have to continue to play with consistency and with passion for 48 minutes. They keep doing it in spurts and is the reason they lost a 20 plus point lead. No reason we should not have won by twenty; last night's game reminded of the Toronto game. They played with ball movement and solid defense to start and to close but you have to try and sustain that. Right now, no way are we contenders. We need a stretch big that can bang in the paint and a back up PG.

Finally watched the whole game. Defense is still bad. At this point this is who we are barring a complete overhaul.

It's bad because we are allowing it to be bad; Nets can actually do something about it and play some damn Defense. Why is it hard for these multi million dollar players to try and stop the opposition from scoring? EFFORT is the problem. Nash and Vaughn also need to be held accountable because their schemes are still not up to date. They are stuck in 2020 mode hoping our offense will overcome the other team's offense but what they don't understand is the talent around the league and coaches around the league caught on to the Nets, now the Nets have to do the same. You can score 130 and still lose. Some problems we have is leaving multiple three point shooters open and we can never seem to stop the hot hand or pressure the hot hand, it took Nash the end of the game and a blown lead to figure that out..... WHY?!

I don’t think it’s a lack of effort or not trying.

I agree. But truthfully I'm not sure of the cause except I've noticed we are not closing out quarters well. I tried to pay attention to it this game but only came up with a guess that it is resulting from substitution patterns. But this game was particularly difficult to judge because our bench was thinner without Ben and Seth.

In the second quarter we had a 15 point lead with one minute to go. At that time I think Nic, Durant, Irving, Morris and Sumner were in. It went to a ten point lead and O'Neale came in for Sumner and Harris for Morris. We ended the quarter with a seven point lead.

We built the lead back to 19 points at the 5:20 mark of the 3d quarter. Then Sumner replaced Irving, Yuta replaced Harris, with Sharpe, KD, and Royce. About a minute later with the lead down to 15, Harris replaced O'Neale. At about the 3 and a half minute mark, Claxton replaced Sharpe, with lead down to 12. At about 3 minutes the lead was down to 9 and Nash called a time out. Irving and O'Neil came back in for Sumner and Watanabe. We wound up ahead by seven going into the fourth, with KD and Kyrie finishing with 4 points each, and Royce a two.

Those are the facts, I'll let the coaches figure out the why, except for a suggestion that maybe playing our deep bench, in important closing minutes, could be questionable. It's still early, but it seems apparent that we haven't come up with a "death squad" yet.

Btw, how do we feel about Claxton at this point?

I've always liked him, but.. man, he gets injured a lot.

The injury have really held him back. But part of the progress we are seeing in the first 7 games of this season seems to be related to work he put in, in the off season. Even if was only 10 pounds, it has helped. He is also gaining confidence, he is getting older and more familiar with the league and the way things work.

Some players just need more time. Claxton still has not played 2000 minutes. But he is a great position to grow and he seems to be making the best of it.

We would not have won last night against the pacers without Nic's effort.

BTW Gigantes, you started the winning game thread. So we need you to make tonights. Hopefully more!
