I don't think we can get too caught up in that. The top seeding will be in flux all season. What matters is getting into the top 2 and being healthy, continuing to develop chemistry

He was coming off of an illness as well. It happens, I am not even mad that Vaughn kept him in. He usually knocks down those looks.

The streak is finally over, well we were due for a bad game eventually.

We got absolutely nothing from our wings today and that was the game right there,

- Yuta was deep in foul trouble
- TJ got hurt
- Royce couldn't buy a shot for his life
- Likewise Joe

Ben was also poor and even Clax wasn't finishing his shots like he has been.

Credit to the Bulls they played good defense, ran our role players off the 3 point line and dared a stone cold Royce to beat them from deep.

Keeping KD, KI, Ben & Clax healthy and adequately rested is critically-important IMO.

I strongly suspect any one of them going out for the season could be the difference between a loss in the 2nd round and playing for the title. And of course, they all have significant, historic injury concerns.

Assuming all is well as the trade deadline approaches, I agree with many others here that Marks has to get some insurance, probably starting at the 4-5.

That reminds me of a classic principle by psychologist Wayne Dyer: "nothing fails like success."

Meaning (as I recall it), that 'winning' on a regular basis can sometimes go hand-in-hand with the formation of bad habits and drifting work ethic, given that one can lazily point to wins still happening as a defense, if you follow me.

I.e., failing / losing can be super-useful in spurring a team or individual to kind of 'reset themselves,' giving themselves a chance to look at what habits aren't working or where better effort needs to be applied.

I didn't catch the Bulls game unfortunately, but this was my immediate thought upon learning about the loss. As in-- maybe it gives JV & the coaches a little opportunity to correct whatever might have been slightly drifting off course during the mighty win streak. Even if the loss can superficially be blamed on 'folks just not shooting well' and that sort of thing.

Sometimes losing can be good. :D

We need difficult games like last night to continue to develop as a team. Blowing garbage teams out is great, but we need to stay sharp for elite competition.

Pelicans have no Zion on Ingram.

We have to win. Time to bounce back in a big way.

If such a thing as "a good time to reset" exists this would be the time for this team. In terms of this win streak I feel we peaked emotionally when Kyrie brought the house down at Barclays with that dunk with Mbappe in the building. It's telling that nobody is really upset that our streak is over in this game thread, the message has been broadcast to the rest of the league, the Nets are 100% focused on basketball and are to be taken seriously. It's been satisfying watching the talking heads who had ALREADY written our eulogies a month back suddenly have to do a complete 180 in real-time.

Looking at it empirically, long win streaks in the regular season don't have much correlation with winning a title in the load management era. They're simply an indicator that you're a team with a cohesive system that can allow you to maximise your squad's performance. Post-season success comes primarily down to being healthy during the post-season, I actually can't remember the last title team that had one of their top 3ish guys hurt during the playoffs. Not even the most talented team of the modern era - the KD Warriors could survive untimely injuries. And to this day I hold that Giannis became a champion not because he addressed his weakness as a player but because he took Kyrie out. Those were the same playoffs that he was taking 15 seconds just to shoot a free throw...

This team's shown me they are a contender, I'd love to add another big as a depth play but it's really about making small improvements and most importantly staying healthy. If that happens I think this might just be our year.

I think we do need to handle business here. Championship teams crush opponents missing the kind of talent the Pelicans have.

It's not an outrageous ask imo  i think the Nets hold themselves now to a high standard so we should expect a solid bounce back game.

Agreed, but the Pelicans are a very good, big, deep, physical team. I would not expect a walk in the park tonight. Even without Zion, they have the size that causes us issues.

100% agreed. This game won't be easy at all, but we need to figure out how to play against physical teams.

We do have some legitimate gripes on the offense right now, but still we can't lose sight that the shotmaking is at a historic level right now as a team.
