He is important and one of the only ballhandlers on the team. But when he starts taking over a game, buckets often come hard. The problem is, that he is very slow in his decision making. He attacks late in the shotclock. The offense often already came to a halt when he starts attacking. People stand around and defenses get set. No easy buckets come out of these plays and it often results in stepback shots/hero shots etc. Last game he had some very costly turnovers too, but that will probably be better when they know each other better.
I hate his complaining though. After a miss or TO his priority is clearly to complain and not to get back on defense. That became a part of his game that really got out of hand and actually disgusts me lol.
Edit: for example the last play of the game that resulted in a cam j triple. The play started with dinwiddie dribbling the shotclock down to about 15 sec without any attack despite being down 3. JV took a timeout. After the play dinwiddie again dribbled without really attacking, but only a few seconds until the Hawks faked a doubleteam. That fake double resulted in dinwiddie passing the ball. All of a sudden there was ball and player movement and CamJ was wide open at the end. I'm sure that play would have been a sidestep 3 If the hawks did not show that second defender. That offense is fine with kd and ky, but not with dinwiddie IMO
My post was not intended to praise Dinwiddie, or imply exceptionalism. But I do try to remember that it is likely the players, their spouses, and children, most likely seek out anything basketball. I'm not a "homer", but think there are worse things. And I do not read the board during the game. I'm jealous of those who can do that and post, but I really cannot walk and chew gum. So after the game, I was not upset about anyone being critical of anything. But I was overwhelmed by the totality of what, to me, seemed like amimus toward Spencer. I tried to use stats where they might provide additional insight. But there is really no arguing with an eyetest.
I respect yours. So I will, in the future, look to see if the fault you mentioned is more prevalent and harmful than I believed. I actually expected the offense to bog down on occasion. It has for three years, and now we have a new point guard, on a new team, with four new starters. I would expect occasional hesitation. Perhaps I am too accepting, but I hate making decisions with a small sample size, in such a bizarre new situation. And frankly, I wasn't a Nets fan when he was here before, and have not particularly followed his career. So I'm starting from scratch.
I agree with you on the whining to the officials. I think it is too widespread even league wide. I usually ignore it unless there is a Tech though. I might be wrong, but I thought that one was anger about what he believed was a foul on the drive.
