24-25 Nets Depth Chart Predictions

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Tue Jul 23, 2024 1:50 am

Alright, y'all, the summer offseason transaction carousel is winding down. Most teams are as they will be until training camp, and probably through December.

I see lots of people talking about so bench guys who they feel is a sure fire rotation player. I wanted to clarify, by seeing how everyone thinks the regular minutes will play out. I'll go a layer deeper with basic stats predictions, but it don't have I do that!

Notes: my minutes totals will add up to 240, which is 48 minutes × 5 positions. With injuries, rest days and other variables, everyone's average will be slightly higher. Also, some positions will show fewer than 48 total minutes, others will show more.

I'm looking forward to see where (or whether) we differ. Thanks in advance for sharing!

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a world where Simmons comes off the bench, as long as he's 100% healthy in October. But I can see his minutes getting restricted to 25-30 mpg.

Also, DFS and Johnson will be starters too, until they get traded. Every night will be a showcase for them to get traded.

So add in Thomas and Claxton and that's your starting 5.

B. Simmons (24) - Split time evenly with Schroder
C. Thomas (32) - Primary scorer, but Bogie will chip in with some bursts off the bench
C. Johnson (30) - Secondary scorer, and Wilson will start once he gets moved
D. Finney-Smith (30) - Gap guy, if he gets moved I assume Clowney starts
N. Claxton (32) - Primary defender, solid switch guy, will be impactful on both sides of the floor

Schroder (24)
Bogdanovic (16)
Wilson (18)
Clowney (18)
Sharpe (16)

And these guys are probably in the ~6-10 mpg range if you want to consider taking a few away from the 1st and 2nd unit, and will get more based on foul/injury situations:

S. Milton - Hopefully gets moved for future equity
K. Johnson - Seems like he can get minutes eventually
Z. Williams - Hopefully he gets minutes this season so we can see if he's worth it
T. Watford - He'll get more time once other trades happen

And I bet Whitehead sticks in the G-League for some time this season. He looked really rusty this past week.

Ah the Nets...the only place in the world where they would refuse to play Cam Thomas when the team had high aspirations and the bench needed scoring yet give him the keys 2 years later.....
