Jefferson scenarios

Post#1 » by shspg5 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 2:36 pm

I read a lot of posts on here about dealing Jefferson. Anyone who knows me know that I wholeheartedly agree with that. However, I believe what the Nets need is a replacement for him, not really a big man. Boone/SWill are decent with Allen and Collins for defense being servicable enough. Unless Gasol could be attaind I would not want to lose RJ. I have always thought that he doesnt work with Carter because VC is very good at creating but RJ is not a great spot shooter. Noki is alright and Kidd is streaky. So that means when Carter drives there is no one to truly kick it out to. This makes is harder for him as well as Boone/Williams who could benefit if the defenses didnt suck in every time VC drove. What NJ lacks is either a creater type of wing who can allow for Carter to spot up occasionaly or realistically.. a shooter. The problem with a shooter is that RJ is probably a WAY better player then any marksman(Carrol, Reddick,Kapono, etc.) I think NJ should have really went after Lewis for a sign and trade but now that ship has sailed. The available options for NJ are limited, but maybe a deal with Memphis for Mike Miller and we would take Damon off of their hands. I think RJ for Miller/Staudmire would make us a way better team offensively. Miller would be a perfect complimentary player and Damon a nice punch of the bench. Also, players such as Radmanavic, Peja, etc. would also help. I just think we may need to move RJ for a package that may not be equal to his value to help the teams balance and chemistry. Carter and Kidd would have more solidified roles and the new wing would help stretch the floor allowing Boone more room down low.

while I agree mostly with what you said, it's not likely that RJ will be dealt unless it obtains us a big man. The more time that passes before the trade deadline, it seems more and more likely we'll end up shipping Kidd outta town and VC will follow. Stubborness by management regarding Frank, I don't think they realize HOW CLOSE they are to contending for a title. So instead of trading our best chip for a big man, we're likely to trade our 2 best players and start over.

Sorry G, but if the current rumors are correct, it looks like VC is or has been on the block.

The rumors are inaccurate. Knicks have made it public they're looking to deal Randolph, it was the other way around. Knicks offered Randolph to Nets for VC -- Nets declined.
