Screw JO lets get Paul Gasol instead! a few possible trades.

Post#1 » by Adam1221 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 8:01 pm

Well the more I think about the more clear it is to me that the Oneil's are not the answer this team is looking for.
The only low post presence this team could really and I mean really use is Paul Gasol.
The guy is on top of his game, gets 20ppg, wants to get out of Memphis and most importantly has to draw a double team to free up our backcourt.

A few possible trades:

Memphis gets a stud and stays semi-competitive with RJ.

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4424619
Memphis fully commits to rebuilding and gets a bundle of expiring contracts and/or a future star in Nenad.

I have to say while this one hurts me the most, Im almost 100% positive that Memphis will agree, we'll offer the Williams duo along with the future of this franchise , in order to be super competitive for the next 4-5 years.
But hey like they say in this league if youre not contending or rebuilding youre nowhere.

I know, i hate JO. Gasol is the better player with the better contract. I hate the first and third trade. I would love them to accept the second though.

I tried every possilbe trade possiblity with Memphis and everytime we end up with no shooter. This is the only way i could get a shooter back. Its a 3 way trade with Orlando, Memphis, and NJ.

We get Pau and shooters in Navarro, and Redick, and take on a bad contract
Memphis gets Vince, with Nenad (who could bounce back to form and average 16/7 again or better), vet big in Collins, and a combo gaurd in Bogans
Orlando gets their front court help with Warrick, Antione Wright who can shoot the ball and play excellent D, and a SG filler in Jacobson

Nah Memphis aint trading Navarro dude.
With Kidd,RJ,Vince AND Gasol a shooter will not be needed.

VC would be gone and that would only leave RJ as the only shooter on the team. we wouldn't even have a SG. maybe if we throw in a 1st rounder, we could land navarro.
EDIT
If Navarro is taken out of the deal then maybe RJ can play the 2 and Boki can move in the starting lineup (he played great starting when RJ was injured last year.

PG- Kidd, Marcus, Armstrong
SG- RJ, Redick
SF- Boki, Malik
PF- Gasol, Sean, Cardinal
C- Boone, Mags

Our bench would suck and i dont know if Malik Allen would be comfortable at the 3. I know he can hit the mid range shots but he could be too slow.

The thing is Memphis will want to start rebuilding if they give us Gasol so they'd wanna keep Navvaro who is a very promising young player.

Why would you want an aging injury prone, on a decline JO when you can get an on top of his game Gasol instead for probably a lot less.

Brand is injured for the remainder of the season so 1)he's untradable 2)he's useless atm to us.

1) hes tradeable
2) hes not useless to us.
3) his contract is ending, hes gonna be a free agent, so i guess there would be no point, we would have to wait till the off-season to sign him, if we had cap.
