"JO willing to sit out the rest of the season to rehab knee."
How can I get this to work?
And if you ask me, JO just needs a change of scenery. He doesn't play with a lot of heart, he doesn't fit our system all that well and he practically asked twice to be moved.
EDit:Never mind.
Hey, isn't that one hell of an application letter

Not really if they'd trade Gasol they'll want to start rebuilding so VC and RJ dont intrest them.
If Thorn will offer 1 of or the entire Williams duo Memphis will accept in a second

Guys
respectfully value your opinions but I truly don't understand the "man crush" on Pau Gasol. Yes he is a good post presence, but he is an average rebounder at best, poor on ball defense, and far from an interior presence
Gasol is still young , and if he was all that then why would Memphis be shopping him so hard? JO has been injured but it kills me when people here say a 29 yr old is past his prime. JO is 10 times more of what you need. Way better defender and shot blocker, better rebounder, and has playoff experience
I think if JO was making say 12-14mil it would be a moot point, but people are fixated on his salary. Like I said if you get JO for VC the Nets will be in at least the ECSF

Ill explain:
1)Contracts- JO is getting paid a laughable amount of money which will end up hurting us a lot if we want to make that much hyped move when we move to NYK in 2010.
2)For rebounds and low post D we have Boone who's doing a fantastic job and will only get better.
3)The main reason we need a low post presence(which Paul def' brings) is to free up RJ/Vince/both(depends on who we keep after the trade), the fact that on his own Paul has a great offensive skill set is just icing on the cake.
Can you imagine how much defenses will crumble when Paul sets us up with a pick they'll have no idea who to double team.
JO on the other hand does not warrant much attention these days and if you actually check the stat sheet you'll find out that he doesnt get more than like 7 RPG.
4)With Paul we actually have a chance to keep the big 3 intact and add a top notch big man because Memphis is likley to start rebuilding and we have some young pieces with tremendous value, add 2 very nice expirings and were almost done with negotiations.
5)Paul is 27 years old which by today's standards is quite old and when teams start rebuilding they always aim for 20-23 tops for their future star.
6)Age has nothing to do with the fact that JO is past his prime, he's past his prime because all of his injuries and he just sorta gave up on any hopes for a championship after the 2004 season.

Marcus can develop as a SG instead of a PG in all honesty either way he's a great piece of young talent with amazing value Memphis will littereally bend over for a deal that included him and Sean.
The only thing that reamains in this puzzle is for Thorn to have the balls to go 100% into win now mode.

What in that would make it a deal the Pacers would have to do? Nothing. The player they want is a young PG. If they don't get him, why bother? Why not keep their big man that the Nets desperately need?
You may think that JO has no trade value, but he sure would be a MAJOR upgrade (and fill a gaping hole that's been here forever) inside. So what if there is no competition. It's not like the Pacers HAVE TO deal him - if you don't give them something worth their while, they'll just laugh and walk. The Nets need the deal, and Indy doesn't.
And if you don't do this deal, you might as well tear it down and go into rebuilding mode, shipping out VC and Kidd for expiring deals, because your window is closed until you get some kids who can grow into a future contender.
For those that think Gasol is a better answer, then maybe you go there if you can. But I'm not sure he is really available anymore. And JO is.
Hey Gump I have always respected your posts and this has not changed.
My point i was trying to make is that i would offer the pacers basically nothing for JO. Yes we are desperate for a big man but it is important not to show it. JO has showed that he is keen to move on, the longer we wait the better the deal will be for us. That's only my humble opinion.
It's important to remember the Steve Francis debacle years ago when he forced Vancouver to trade him to the rockets. It could happen here. Not saying it will. But it has happened in the past.
