4 team trades are very unusual in real life.

Memphis gets really hosed in this deal. They give up their top star & does not get any decent players in return.

I recognize that picks and/or other means of compensation could be added going the way of Memphis; however, i think the biggest return for them would have to come in the summer time. This could be compared to the situation Phoenix was in when they traded away Marbury for expiring contracts. I know that Gasol isn't the cancer Marbury was but that deal allowed them to have capspace to sign Steve Nash etc. It also allowed Amare who was then an up and coming player like Rudy Gay to blossom into a superstar. That $20M in cap space could be used to sign a players like Elton Brand, Ron Artest etc.

i think phoenix would really have to consider it. their defense on the wings would improve having jefferson and bell on each side. and i think tyrus could really thrive in phoenix's system and playing with nash. he would put up marion-like numbers in a few years and even this year him and diaw could take turns at PF. plus collins can be thrown in to try and stop duncan. not saying i would be quick to do it if i was them but i'd have to consider it.

Memphis gets screwed. Also, if the Grizz were willing to trade Gasol for Krstic and salary relief, there's no reason for the Suns and Bulls to be involved.
