From a Portland fan here
Jarret Jack
Martell Webster
Raef Lafrentz(big expiring contract in 2 years)
1st round pick this year, top 5 protected
For
Kidd
& throw ins to make it work
From what I see, this looks better than what has been offered so far, and while Portland might not be Kidds first choice, the real reason to make a deal is to help improve the nets

I've seen a deal like this thrown around a lot and it's one that I wouldn't mind. It seems Portland also has 3 second round draft picks this season, so I'm sure the Nets would love to get at least one of those as well, realistically speaking I'm not sure Portland needs all three of those second rounders either as they already have quite a few keepers on their roster and don't they have a couple of euros they're going to bring over eventually?
There would just be too much of a roster jam if they kept all 3 of those second rounders...
Anyway like I said before, I like the deal since it doesn't leave the Nets with any giant contracts that will hurt the rebuilding process, and they also get a nice young player in Webster. Jacks is kind of a throw-in but he's a good throw-in in the sense that he's capable of splitting time with Marcus until Marcus fully develops into the point guard the Nets hope he does.

Portland has a number of young players with a lot of potential and all under rookie contracts. Jack, Webster, Frye, Green, and McRoberts are possibles along with some of the 2nd rounders. I don't know that Pritchard would give up his #1 since he seems to work magic with those. LaFrentz would have to be included to make the salaries match.
Kidd is such a short term rental, I'm not sure that Portland would look to acquire him. Their window is in the future and having JK for a couple of years doesn't really do anything for them other than move them up a spot or two in the playoff race.

From Portlands standpoint here are the reasons for a deal
1 Portland already has 15 under contract for next year and needs to make space for Rudy Fernandez from Spain and of course Oden who will need playing time. Not to mention a couple of other Euros that are stashed overseas who could come over(Koponen and Freeland)
2 With this logjam another 1st this year is just too much, where would they get playing time, how young can you get?
3 A second would probably not be an issue as the prevailing assumtion is they would just use it on a couple of Euros who will stay overseas a while
Finally 4, Kidd would probably be a short term fix and would certainly help for the playoffs but he would also be off the books in 2 years and provide invaluable experience to Portlands young roster. If he keeps playing at a high level he could be resigned, otherwise Portland will have capspace
This just makes too much sense to actually occur

From a Portland standpoint, I'd be all for this. KP has to decide which young players to keep on this team and trading Martell and Jack would be the beginning of this process. Kidd would provide leadership and would be the perfect mentor for Roy and I'd personally be thrilled to have Kidd on this team. The pick would have to be top ten protected (or something along those lines) but in return, NJ gets a nice young shooter in Martell, who's has greatly improved this season, and also get Jack, who has had an off season but would get better with more PT IMO. LaFrentz is just fodder added to the deal to make it work.
EDIT: Adding some second rounders wouldn't be a huge problem.

I believe the reason we're hearing reports of a 3 way deal with DAL, POR, and NJ is that Portland doesn't want Kidd. He doesn't fit with their long term plans and IMO would be a MAJOR risk to their current chemistry. It just doesn't make sense from a Trailblazers perspective.
Here is the trade I proposed:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=987~429~2382~998~841~2768~454~2795&teams=22~6~22~22~17~6~17~17&te=&cash=
This is a bit more simple trade that I believe works for all three teams. Portland's got Jack, Webster, and Lafrentz going out for Harris, Collins, and Hassell. Hassell can provide spot minutes at 2/3 and Collins essentially takes Raef's spot as an emergency big man. Hassell's contract is the same as Miles, hindering Portland's '09 cap space plan. Harris becomes, IMO, an almost ideal backcourt compliment to Roy, he can focus on playing stellar defense, pick his spots on offense, and get the ball to the guys around him.
Dallas has Kidd and Jack coming in for Harris, Hassell, and Terry. Dallas can take a shot winning big with Kidd/Howard/Nowitzki and they get a young Jarrett Jack to help with the loss of Terry and Harris. IMO this trade is the most unbalanced for Dallas, so perhaps some other form of compensation (Portland has 4 picks, Cuban could care less about cash) would have to be given to them.
New Jersey gets decent value for Kidd in Terry and Webster, plus Raef's big contract comes off the books next year. Next move for NJ: Trading Vince Carter - let the rebuilding in Brooklyn commence! If I were a NJ fan I'd certainly rather have M. Williams, Terry, Webster, Jefferson, S. Williams, Boone, and something for Carter that what they have now.
