It's somewhat bittersweet to have Jason Collins end his career in a Nets uniform like this. He was certainly a class act; he never complained about anything going on within the team, and merely played his position to the best of his abilities. Unfortunately, his abilities regressed tremendously over the past couple of years. He worked hard as a defender, but his offensive talents were a huge liability and made it seem like there were only four players on the court. But I suppose that's not why we brought in Collins in the first place, is it? His purpose was to defend the athletic bigs on opposing teams, and he did a fairly decent job at it. I'll miss Collins not because he was a particularly memorable or athletic player, but rather because he ends an era for the Nets, one in which New Jersey climbed to the top of their conference and legitimately competed for titles. Especially during his first years here, he gained some invaluable experience defending the best bigs not only in the league but of all time, like Shaq, Duncan and Robinson. Collins' role was never that of a starter, and perhaps thats why he caught so much flack over the past couple of years. He should have been used primarily as a defensive specialist; unfortunately, Frank didn't understand that.
Although I won't miss Collins, I'll still respect him for his contributions to the team.
Thank You Jason Collins

You guys put this into words very well.
Jason Collins is a great person on and off the court which is very rare nowadays. I wish him all the best in Memphis. If they make another very solid pick(stud) and keep Miller, Gay, Conley, and Navarro they might be a playoff team in a few seasons once they get a very solid bench.
Good luck Jason. We will not forget you.
