Mr. Dollar and SIC...do you guys really want to have this conversation again...is it really all that appealing...

Why not wait for the draft/and the summer to come to see what happens...

agree to disagree here...because this debate, once again, looks like its going nowhere fast...

Thinking back about the season...

Why was it so disappointing?

For the whole season RJ was our #1 go to guy on offense. After RJ, we had nothing. Our style was a bunch of poor passing, spot up jump shooters, who could never get defensive stops when it mattered. When the opponents made 4th quarter run, we went to RJ. In that sense we weren't any different than Redd on the Bucks, Pierce on bad Celtics teams.

RJ had a great year... but it was more like the old movie cliche, everyone is lined up, volunteers are asked for, one person stands his ground, and the everyone else takes a step back. Leaving the surprised "volunteer" standing all alone.

The Nets problem the whole year was we had just 2 reliant scoring options in the s5 and our bench consistent of an inconsistent Boki and nothing else . Every once in a while somebody joined the party like Wright or Allen but that was basically it . When he traded Kidd for Harris we got a 3rd option on Offense but our team defense suffered .

Not that it had been good before but it got worse.

I am starting to feel more and more that we might be in the running to get Brand.

There is no way we get Brand. For one, I think he stays in LA and second, we just don't have the money to sign a player with that kind of contract.

Sign and Trade.
I know they have a lot of injuries and it is the end of the season, but LAC has still been getting smoked. Brand knows he is going to get the same money if he stays in LA or if he asks for a S&T, so I still see it as a possibility. Brand may think he can't win in LA.
Now LA can say no, but they also know they can lose him for nothing next year or this year, and even if someone signed him to a max deal such as Philly or Miami, it could be one of those Joe Johnson to Atlanta situations where he makes it clear he doesn't want them to match it.

Also, I was wondering from anyone truly familiar with CBA, correct me if I am wrong, but can't we trade a player, such as RJ or VC, to a team who is under the cap, such as Portland for nothing more than draft picks, taking no salary back?
If that is the case, and one of the few teams with cap space wanted him, we could do a trade such as that, and then sign Brand.
I am really not sure on this one, and I am probrably completely wrong.

Also, I was wondering how you guys felt about Jamison?
He is unrestricted, and if he wanted to play here, and we could come to an agreement, and Washington wanted RJ we could do a S&T.
I know he doesn't really make us a contender by himself, but if Rod isn't going to blow it up, but he is going to make a major shakeup, this has to be a move in the back of his mind.

I never liked Jamison's game. He's too soft as a power forward and a bad defender. Thorn wants to add toughness.

Yeah, I'm not huge on trading for him either.
Not much of a passer either.
Just putting it in the air.
Although I would imagine we would run him at the 3 with a big lineup.
Boone and Krstic starting along side him.
Maybe even Kevin Love, although it is looking more and more like he will go top 7, if not from media hype alone.

Lets not rule out a Shawn Marion S&T just yet either.

Why would we want Shawn Marion?

He is not a true PF/C scorer in the post. He would fit perfectly with Harris' speed game but really we need a back to the basket scorer. Brand i'd be willing to deal for, Marion...i dunno.

He's an upgrade over RJ play him as a small forward.
I'd deal RJ for Brand or Marion either one.

Now i agree with that, i'd definitely put him at the SF spot. His game would work better with VC anyway, since Marion can play off of him and also run the floor with Harris.
