IMHO--Nets will draft Mcgee[if he is there]
The bottom line with Mcgee--he is a perfect fit fot he Nets--he can get up and down the floor--he is multi skilled and 7-1 with long arms and a growing body. You don't have a C and you don't need an undersized one to fill the bill because you have that. It appeasr as if Jordan wont last past 7-8 and IMHO the next two best bigs are Koufus and Mcgee but Mcgee is the better fit.

I don't know anything about Mcgee but i know one thing for sure unless we make a trade for a bigtime player ( don't ask me who or how ) we don't draft someone that isn't ready to make any kind of impact from the day on he's stepping on the court.
No need for projects that can't do much anytime soon.

Not taking Jordan unless we are planning on trading him, or at least I hope.
This kid is 124 pounds soaking wet with army boots on with 8 rolls of quarters in each and every pocket holding a medicine ball.
Vote for Kevin Love in 2008!

McGee is skinnier than Jordan is
Not high on McGee either.
My ideal scenario would have us moving up to get Mayo, Love or Gallinari if none of them are left at the 10 spot, which they might not be.
If not I guess I would be cool with Westbrook or Gordon if either is still there. I guess. A lot of people are saying Westbrook is the next Wade, probrably just cause some of the draft sites are saying so. I think this is just silly unfair overhype.
He reminds me more of Tony Allen, maybe Fred Jones if he's lucky.

I don't like the talent around the #10 pick for what we want/need. Either trade up for Gordon (if he measures out) or I would consider trading down a bit and picking up a couple guys like Speights (maybe even take him at 10) and Ajinca.
Not sold at all on McGee, and even if I was, it would be tough for a guy like him to develop on the Nets.

Maybe not the most upside but upside alone doesn't make a good player.
I love the idea of drafting Love if he somehow falls to the 10.
I don't know what qualifies as potential anymore neither?
I mean, what, because the guy averaged high double figure and double digit boards, and almost 2 blocks and some assists he has no potential or upside?
WTF?
He is a 19 yr old freshman people.
I highly doubt it, but it is a realistic possibility that he even has another small growth spurt at that age by the time he's 21.
And so many people are saying he is out of shape and in the Sean May mold, but this is mostly untrue.
He could without question benefit from some strength and conditioning training, but if you look at highlight footage he is alot more tone than May ever was, and is not nearly as fat.
I think it maybe the white American big man stereotype, which sadly is somewhat true.
But, I still think this kid will turn out to be a great player, ala Brad Miller, who if you could draft at the 10th overall pick is an actual crime.

Well not the most upside isn't a knock on him but he lacks a bit of size that'll allways limit him a bit . But he looks like he can make up for his lack of size with tremendous energy and will .
But still a seven footer with similar skill and energy will allways be superior but well how often do you find these ?

Exactly.
ANd I wasn't really talking to you personally about the upside issue.
It just seems the general concensus seems to be very idiotic and jaded when it comes to upside and potential in general and also specifically for Love.
Check out the NBA Draft board.
It's amazing that with the history of the last 10 drafts or so that people still believe in the ridiculous hype which is upside and potential.
Every player that is coming out too early, that has conditioning issues, low b ball IQ, lack of weight and strength, no true skill set, no true position, simply is just a raw athlete, hasn't lived up to their hype and/or just isn't any good seems to have terrific upside and potential and is labeled the next big thing.
Of course they have upside and potential, it's because they suck!
Then proven players in college(which do not always work in the NBA game either) such as Brandon Roy, Lamarcus Aldridge, Chris Paul and Deron Williams(prime examples) are passed up for the likes or Bargnini, Tyrus Thomas and Marvin Williams.
Yikes!
I'll guess I'll never get it, while all these experts do.
