I agree with everyone that money has a lot to do with why Kidd left. I think the ownership (and uncertainty) with the Nets played a part in it too. We all know that he's getting old, and his window is closing. Honestly, I believe his comments on the Nets when he said he's tired of seeing the same old routine of stinking it out of the gates, then making a late run towards the playoffs. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, that grates more on a competitive person than to play in a team that doesn't compete.
The problem is that, Kidd, as an outsider like us as far as the Mavs are concerned, didn't see the issues that team had when he asked for the deal. They were basically an exact replica of the Nets for the most part. They have one legit 30+ scorer who is more of a perimeter player (Dirk/Carter), one do it all SF (Howard/RJ), and a bunch of inconsistent players to round out the roster. With the Mavericks virtually getting nothing from Josh Howard, no way they can keep up with the Hornets, who had pretty much everyone in their team going, down to Pargo, Peja, and Wright.
As far as the flagrant foul, I agree with Rich. It was just a playoff foul. Pargo was running so fast, and Kidd was coming from the side, and he ended up outrunning him and had to reach back as he only got one hand on the ball. Unfortunately, his other hand landed on Pargo's back/neck, which drove him down hard.
