Way, way, way, off on the numbers. For one, Brand will get a max extension and be fully deserving of it as well.

Yeah I had a feeling I was off. As for Brand, I agree but there is two factors. First, he has to prove that he is back to being Brand. The second and new factor I read today. If Brand isnt happy he might opt out of his last year to go to a contender. This is a rumor and I dont see how he gives up that money, but if that is the case he may be willing to take less.

Whoever is drafted at #5 would be getting about 4 million by then. The 10th and 21st combined would probably be another 4 million. That's about 40 million for RJ, Harris, Boone, S Williams, #5, #10, and #21 (I figure Marcus would just be let go).

For Brand and possibly getting Lebron or Wade, there must be some sacrifices. One of those two will have to be a goner. I even think if S. Will proves to be as good as I think he will be, both boone and m.Will my be considered goners. As for the #21 pick would have been sent off.

lurkingobeiscity wrote:The cap is going to go up by around 10 million dollars higher by this time, if recent trends continue, which would set the cap at about 65 million. To sign Lebron to a max contract (30% of the cap for a player 7 years into the league) is going to cost between 19 and 20 million dollars. That would put the Nets at about 60 million... 5 million below the cap NOT COUNTING any free agents signed between now and then or any draft picks beyond this current draft.

If Jefferson was also dealt off for cap room and talented players on rookie contracts through 10/11 season (Sean Williams rookie class or later) it would cut costs a lot and give the team a ton of flexibility for a rebuild aimed at this free agency. With an up and coming PG in place already as well as a couple of big men who can play key roles, they would only need to hit on a couple of draft picks at SG/SF and PF/C over the next three years of drafts in which they will likely be picking high and will have ammo to move around and get the guys they want.

Another sacrifice here, if we have to trade RJ to get Lebron or Wade. I am all for it. Sign and trade Lebron or Wade for RJ. Why NOT?

I posted this in another thread just wanted to put it here too.

It seems that D'Antoni is going to make an impact as to the dealings with the Knicks.

The rumor is the D'Antoni wants Diaw and Barbosa for Marbury.

As much as I thought D'Antoni didnt fit with that current team, Walsh is going to move players to make it work for D'Antoni.

Walsh is no Magican he's can't just magically move all of New Yorks bad contracts to make it work .

And that Marbury thing LOL , Phoenix is not rebuilding yet why in the world would they do this ?

Marbury is a non-factor as a player ( dead weight ) why would they trade 2 rotation players ( and they just have 7-8 useful players ) for complete crap ( expiring crap ) if they don't rebuild.

I posted this on the Knicks board.

This article may be some bad way to get back at Walsh. In reality, D'Antoni needs Walsh to improve this team as does Walsh needs to improve this team for D'Antoni and for himself. On D'Antoni's side, You accept this contract to take a step back in your career. Second, Everyone is going to call him a Mercenary and that he only came to NY for the money. Walsh also has to justify this D'Antoni hiring. If you are going to pay a coach $12 mill to lose for two seasons, This would turn out to be a bad deal.

Just wanted to say.

You know D'Antoni is pissed that he didnt wait for that Chicago Job.

That is what you get for being greedy.
