I'm not feeling Scalabrine's contract (Thanks to Kidd) and I'm not completely sold on Big Baby. Then again I'm not a fan of Hassell. Still, I'd have to back off.

I'll pass. The trade doesn't make us (meaning our bench) any better than what it is now. Ticket Stub doesn't appear to me like he'll ever develop into a consistent player off the bench. I pass.

As much as I love Veal (have his Nets jersey), I don't want 2 wasted roster spots when hassell serves more of a purpose on our team at this point.

Really don't see a huge difference between Davis and Boone plus we are looking at drafting a big anyways.

I also see Hassell having a big role next year as our Jason Collins type player.

Boone is not a tweener. He's got legit measurements to play PF and at times the 5 if need be. Baby is a fat small forward but can play the 4 due to his mass. Baby can't play defense at the 3 because they're too quick and can't defend the 4 because he gets overpowered by guys that are his weight but all muscle and they're taller.

Boone > Big Baby every day of the week

Wait........Adriana -and- Beyonce at the games???? i approve of that!!!

And Boone takes a fat dump all over Big Baby. Boone could mess around and average a double double as a starter, wheras the only thing big baby is doubling is the amount of meat on his cheeseburger at McDonald's

Just to be clear, what is the exact reasoning for Boston in this trade?

It's certainly just an idea that I came up with for my offseason Celtic plan -- not something that's been discussed (as far as I know).

Hassell would be insurance against either James Posey or Tony Allen leaving and/or getting injured, providing some of the same things (defense, decent shot, solid play) that Posey does. He's another guy we can throw at the LeBrons, Kobes and Wades of the NBA. He's also played with KG for many years and so would probably fit well with this team. This Celtic team is looking to build depth for the next 2-3 years of championship runs.

Does Hassell have a role with this NJ team? I believed he was more a toss-in in the Kidd deal.

I figured Scal might help sell some tix and the very least, the Nets would have Big Baby's Gilbert Arenas rights next summer. He's a talented kid, but i'm sold on Powe as the backup PF. I guess you have Boone, Williams and Krsitic, but if nothing else you free up $1-2M in caproom with the Diff. in Hasseell-->Scal plus Davis walking. Hell you could even waive him, though i imagine you could easily get more by including him in a trade.

We could also throw in our 2nd rounder -- which is #60 but a player coudl be had there certainly.

I don't know what (if any role) Big Baby would have on NJ, but considering the original proposal (Veal, Big Baby and $3 mil for Hassell) would save NJ roughly $5 million over the next two, it's an easy yes IMO.

Both Hassell's and Scalabrine's contract end at the same time. So sign me up.
