Kristic Receives Qualifying Offer From Nets
So with Krstic's past injury problems, I don't see any other team offering too much. Even if it isn't, do the Nets still match? With our assortment of bigs and our cost cutting mindset right now, it's hard to tell where Krstic will play next season (Not even pending we trade or package him in a deal).

Re: Kristic Receives Qualifying Offer From Nets
Honestly I wouldn't mind resigning Krstic for a 2-3 year deal I know the Nets have an assortment of bigs and it's a bit of a gamble given Krstic's injury from last year but I think a combo of Lopez and Krstic manning the center position is pretty solid...
While Krstic may not have the upside of a Yi or Williams he knows how to play the game and seems to be a quality teammate...
If the Nets let him go I won't cry about it, but I think he's worth bringing back even if it's just for this year.

Re: Kristic Receives Qualifying Offer From Nets
I would like to keep Krstic. At least for this upcoming season. If he returns to form he could be a great trade chip. Problem is we are now JAM PACKED with front court players. Some have to go. Obviously Lopez/Anderson/Yi are locked in. I'm assuming we'll most Stro. If the right deal comes along we'll probably move S-Will or Boone (I stress "right" again so you don't jump on my throat). That leaves Krstic. I love the kid. I don't think he'll command a whole lot. It'd be great to keep him and give him a shot on the cheap.
I think the Nets are hoping he doesn't sign any offer sheets quickly. I think their goal is to ship 2-4 players out first and get 1-2 players in return. That way they'll know if they'll still NEED Krstic in the front court. Moves like that would also free up roster spots (since right now we have 13 or something). I honestly don't see us sending anyone on our roster to the D-League so we need to clear some spots right now for Vet help.
Once that situation is taken care of, the Nets will work on Krstic. I think that is their plan and they hope nobody jumps on Krstic quickly because that'll give the Nets extra work.

I highly doubt any team signs Nenad due to his injury problems, BUT...there's always a chance. Look at a team like Atlanta. Yes, he will slow them down, but that team needs frontcourt help so badly that, knowing NJ has this logjam at the PF/C position, they JUST might make him an offer.

They'll figure out what they're gonna do with the Josh's first. Hell if Philly can't land a big time FA, I can see Philly signing him. I could see San Antonio, Charlotte, GSW and Seattle too.

I'd love to find a way do a trade centered around Krstic for Josh Childress, but I don't know how viable it is either from a talent or financial standpoint.

Agreed - It might be viable from the perspective that with Marvin Williams stepping up and Josh Smith needing a new contract, Childress simply isnt a priority and they could easily lose him for nothing if someone offers him a decent (3-4 years 20-30 mil) contract. Kristic would give them a shot at a solid backup center cheap for at least a year. I think it would be a win-win for both considering its going to be hard for them to keep Childress happy financially and playing time wise.

That could be a feasable deal for both teams. Chill can start at SF for the Nets, and Krstic starts at C for the Hawks. Only thing is that Chill is their do it all player, playing anything from PG - PF in some stretches, so they do value his versatility coming off the bench. So if they feel that they can get Nenad for nothing, why go sign and trade?
Philly I don't think would be a good fit for Nenad. They already have Dalembert, and just drafted Speights.

Yeah, I'll admit that an Atlanta deal would need some definite tweaking and possibly a third team. Maybe the Nets can take Speedy Claxton as an incentive (contract expires next year) and maybe with the help of a 3rd team, get the Hawks a player or two to help fill in their bench.
As to Philly, they lack an offensive player up front. Yeah they drafted Speights, but you're certainly asking a lot out of him to make an impact right away.

A Dual S&T, even for two teams that are under the salary cap as the Nets and Hawks are, is difficult under the CBA. But Childress would be one of my first choices as a FA target this offseason, and if the Hawks signed Nenad to an offer sheet, we would go right back and sign Childress to one as well. They have bigger fish to fry than acquiring another bigman, with Smith's extension looming very large on the horizon.
