Free agency frenzy has started and it seems like the Nets not only have to take care of their own players, but their sending out feelers out to potential free agents in the market that can fill the holes that we have on this team.
Basically, the whole theme of this free agency for the Nets is to possibly keep Nachbar and find a taker for Nenad Krstic. All the rest of the free agents would have to settle for a contract less than 3 years since the Nets are still looking to have that space in 2010. Here's the list of players that the Nets have inquired about since the moratorium for free agents was lifted on July 1st:
Center and Power Forward - Kwame Brown, and Eddie Najera.
Small Forward - Mickael Pietrus, and Matt Barnes.
Point Guard - Jannero Pargo, Roger Mason Jr., and Keyon Dooling.
A couple of thoughts: Seems like the Nets are interested in bringing Pargo and Dooling in the mix, as has every year we've been trying to get these players. I like Mickael Pietrus but only if he accepts a 2 year offer with a 3rd year option. He would easily supplant the void that the team lost when it traded RJ, but mostly on the defensive end. Still scratching my head on Kwame Brown though, but that just means that a trade for one (or two) of our current bigs are being heavily shopped.
Stay tuned.

We can't get JR unless we overpay extremely bigtime. Denver's not going to let him go if the offer is still somekind of reasonable . They'll match whatever we'll offer.

The only 2 FAs I'd give more than 2 years are JR Smith and Josh Childress. It's probably a moot point though since I think both teams would match a full MLE for them.

Pargo Wants Three Years; Hornets Like Posey
Seems like Jannero Pargo's aim for years on his contract fits in well with what the Nets are trying to do. I say give him 2 years guaranteed with a 3rd year team option and he'd be a viable back-up for Devin Harris. Pargo relishes the role of a back-up PG and would be a great fit here in New Jersey.
Here's hoping that NOH exhausts all their energy in trying to sign Posey which will give us the edge in trying to sign Pargo seeing that for the past few summers, he's a player that's always been a target of Rod Thorn. Signing Pargo would open the doors of a Marcus Williams trade. Maybe a sign and trade for Mickael Pietrus? I wish.

I think dooling would be a better backup PG more so than Pargo. His height and his defense is better. JR Smith is a chucker! I would prefer Pietrus.
Question what is the status of Emeka Okafor? is he a FA or RFA?
