Sean Williams for Nate Robinson?

Post#1 » by Starscream » Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:42 pm

A source close to the Nets front office told TKB that the team would most definately accept a Knicks offer of Nate Robinson in exchange for forward Sean Williams.

What would Nate bring to the table for us? He's not really a true point guard and he's way to small the play the 2. With Harris locked up long term, it really doesn't make sense to me to bring him on. I'd rather just have Sean sit on the bench and hope he develops into the player we want him to be. Honestly, I want him to develop into a Marcus Camby type player. Put about 15 more pounds of muscle on so he doesn't get knocked around and just focus on all the cleanup work on the boards and blocking shots.

Regardless, I only want Sean leaving this team if it's for a young guys that fits our system and is in a "need position" that has just as much upside as Sean or trade him in a package with some bigger contracts for a difference maker. In my opinion Nate doesn't fit either of those.

Now, don't get me wrong, I actually like Nate a lot. He's actually my favorite Knick because he's crazy. He was on my fantasy team last year. I just don't see a spot for him.

Horrible deal, I like Nate but Sean should at least bring us someone to fill a need

I'd do it, I really think Sean can be a borderline all star player but under the Nazi Frank he's just being wasted.
After we bloody missed the playoffs Frank still decided to bench him despite him showing some great stuff in his rookie year.
This is one of the major reason's Im strongly against rebuilding- Frank can get through a talented young player's confidence harder than a samurai sword.

I like Robinson, but I think Sean is just flat-out worth more. Plus, Nate needs a new contract next summer, and I'm not intrigued with the idea of moving Sean for a one-year rental backup PG, nor do I like the idea of giving lil' Nate a sizable extension (I figure someone will give him a deal between Willie Green's and Luke Walton's size).

I'd do Nate/Chandler for Sean/Ager, but that's as far as I could go.

We could land him and then do a S&T for JR Smith. We'd be the 2nd coming of the Jailblazers I loved so much!

The hell? No. What is this infatuation that this team strongly needs a third string PG? Yes, we're low on 2s, but a deeply undersized 2 without a consistent shot with below average playmaking skills is not the answer to that problem.

I like Sean too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to trade him somewhere else just so he could be successful.

Well put, plus I don't think we have the oversized PG/combo guard needed for Nate to be at his best. Unless Wilson Chandler is involved (and I wouldn't do it straight up), I'm not trading Sean to the Knicks.

The Nets say no deal. Could the Nets be one of the teams talking to Chicago about Ben Gordon?

Turned down $59 million/6 years. He wants $70 million. Nets won't be willing to extend that deal to him. Nor should they.

I guess the Nets are hoping Lebron comes here in 2010. It's going to be interesting if Lebron stays in Cleveland. In the meantime, I expect the Nets to miss the playoffs this season, which gives them a shot at Blake Griffin or Chase Budinger. :D :)
