Why do we not post up Lopez??
a) Lawrence Frank doesn't like easy buckets.
b) Vince and Devin don't trust Brook.
c) Lopez turns it over too much
d) Lopez doesn't position himself well enough.
So, do any of you out there have ANY idea why we don't give lopez the ball down LOW? He's always busy setting picks at the 3 point line.

I think it's more of letter A. Frank has obviously fell in love with that so-called dribble drive motion when the only motion I see is the one with the ball and the one giving the screen at the top of the key.
Vince should also post up more but of course at the end of the day, the coach has the last say
.
And in fairness to Vince and Devin, they're both trying to involve their teammates as much as possible.

A and C. Lopez is having trouble with doubles after he puts the ball down and is playing a bit too mechanical but Frank is not working him through it, and is instead over-relying on the dribble drive.

he's getting more and more touches...I think he needs more...I look at C & D...sometimes he catches the ball on block at awkward angles and has to force a tough shot once he gets into his post and moves toward the basket...other times, he's just too far from the basket and needs to repost himself...when he goes for the hook entering the lane, he's definitely too far from the basket where the shot becomes a force...hey...he's made some tough shots, but its all about positioning on the post and we know what he can do when receives the basketball on the block in right spot...
solution...reset...catch the ball on the block, and send it back out to repost...establish a better position and odds are you're post move will put you where you want to be to score an easier bucket...

Like I have said before Frank is being stubborn as usual.
Clearly Lopez should be a bigger part of this offense. At least 25% of the plays should start with Lopez when Harris and VC are on the court. When they are off, Lopez should get more touches.
Other teams are going to catch on to this dribble drive stuff and are already finding ways to stop Harris. Frank needs to prepare Lopez. Frank needs to let him get the touches now and get him used to passing out of the post.

I didn't get to watch a lot of the miami game, I see he had a big game though. Were most of his points through set plays, or offensive rebounds and transition?

Eh it's the offense really, I think it's going to have to be revised a bit to feature Lopez more...

I agree..and this comes with time...sorry SIC, I dont think its due to stubborness on Frank's part...Lopez was getting some nice touches vs. Miami...I think he'll get more depending on who is guarding Brook...just have patience w/ Brook and the Nets...he's blossoming at a good pace...learning every game...one thing you dont want to do is overwhelm him w/ his role, depsite the Czar stating, just play basketball...Brook's ceiling is limitless at this point...at some point in the season, I can see the Nets trying to feature Brook, and play some offense through him vs. a team who plays a lot half-court ball...

See but this is exactly why it is Opie's fault.
Opie calls the plays, creates the plays in practice and is the one limiting his growth and effectiveness directly linked to this.

Re: Why do we not post up Lopez??
The DDM system isn't built around post-up bigmen, although many coaches (not named Frank) have incorporated it into their sets.
Coach Frank is probably just slow-playing Brook in this regard. I have to say, this is an honorable, old-school trait in him that I respect, but it doesn't make me any more satisfied with the decision.

the offense goes through Devin and Vince...everyone else in our offense is secondary...IMO, Lopez is getting what he can handle, some nights thats more than others...he's progressing and at some point in the future, you should see his touches increase to the point where he can demand the ball on the block (versus certain teams)...
but this only happens with time...patience is key w/ Brook and having him become more and more of our offense...he took 16 shots vs Miami, say half of those were set plays...we all know he's going to get his attempts through dribble penetration/broken plays and offensive rebounding...the Nets arent going to flourish right now as a halfcourt team, playing through the post, with a rookie initiating our offense...he fits perfectly into our offense now, I dont disagree we shouldnt explore Brook getting more touches, but maybe I'm misunderstanding how many that really is...
