Good for Rod. This is why I love him. Yeah we need to shed salary, but he's not gonna do something rash and stupid. You're talking to the guy who invented the original "fleece deal." You won't pull a fast one over on him.

It seems as though Portland's FO is as stuborn as most of their fans.

Most of us thought Serg and Outlaw was a lowball offer and it seemed Thorn felt the same way.
Now Pritchard is demanding the GS pick and wants to send Frye?!

I said it yesterday, I said it the day before, no Batum or Rudy, no deal.

I gotta say, it really shows that PDX's FO is truly obnoxious. From the Miles debacle, to the lowball offers that most GM's wouldn't even offer for fear of insulting the other team's FO and the rest of the league for that matter.

I understand the business of the NBA, but it is just ironic that Portland obviously feels that they need to substantially upgrade their team and no longer has the option of FA, but refuse to pay to get what they want. They also seem to specifically want VC, or RJ as a 2nd option, so if they are willing to eat either one's salary, why not give up literally one piece, such as Batum, figuring that guy is gonna get his minutes severely cut till VC is gone anyway?

I guarentee they come out of this deadline without VC or RJ, and they will claim it is because they decided they didn't need to make a big move, when truthfully it was NJ and Milwaukee scoffing at the insulting offers being thrown around.

In the offseason they aren't gonna have the cap space to get what they want and will no longer have Raef's contract as an asset.
I think they have a very bright future and present as is, but it still knd of funny.

I guess I did overrate VC's trade value slightly, but obviously not too much or he would have been shipped for the scraps Pritchard has been offering.

Eh, I said I wanted VC to retire a Net, but it doesn't look likely.

I have a feeling he goes to San An in the offseason for expirings, Mason and Hill, then we immediately cut the expirings(Bowen and Oberto, more than likely) and they go back to San An.

We'll see.

Yeah I'm pretty relieved. I like our team. I wasn't willing to break it up unless we brought in a solid building block...not one of Portland's throwaways. From what I was reading from Chad Ford throughout the day, it seems like Portland had been lowballing everyone. How much cap room do they have this summer? Raef comes off the books but isn't Darius back on for 1 more season? I really can't see them adding someone who could legitimately help them this offseason. Oh well not my problem.

What a complete let down!!

The only thing that can make me happy now is if Frank gets fired.

That wont happen either this year.

Maybe Tanking for a Top 5 pick can work.

If you look at our last 4 games, we didn't need to move Vince to go into "tank mode." We can do it with him too!

1. Blake Griffen
2. James Harden
3. Greg Monroe(If he declares)
4. Trade the pick!
5. Trade the pick!

But in all honesty I go Terrence Williams and either his teammate Earl Clark or Jordan Hill at 5.

There are couple guys I love in this draft, Eric Maynor, Teague and Curry, but they are point guards.

Everyone else is meh.

Some decent players, but no one I would take for our team and top 8.

BTW, I have a thread dedicated to this, don't be afraid to use it, it won't bite.

Unless Earl Clark goes off the rest of the season or has a few sick workouts he's gonna go between 10-14. He has ALL the talent but I question his motivation. Some games he mails it in from tip off, other games he wants to murder people. It's gonna hurt his stock a little. That's hard for me to say too because he's my 3rd favorite player in college (1. James Harden; 2. Patrick Patterson; 3. Earl), but if we're a late lottery pick, we have a great chance at landing him and I'd love to have him. If we're top 7 pick and we don't use one our other assets to move into the top 3, I'm gonna slap a hooker.

Agree with your whole post, especially the 1st 4 sentences.

I still have a feeling that Terrence Williams winds up mid to late lotto.
He started off mid second round in most mocks this year and I scoffed at it.
Recently he has been moving up to an almost unanimous late 1st round in the 20's.
If he continues his stellar all around play, continues to improve his jumper, gets to the line and drives to the rim more, along with having a strong finish to the season, Big East tourney and helps get Louisville into at least the Sweet 16 in the NCAA, I think he goes around the 8th to 14th pick.
As much as I like Earl Clark, Williams is the best player on the Cardinals and even though he is a senior he will only be 22 at the beginning of the 2009-10 NBA season.
I see a lot of Iggy in Williams.
