Batum does have potential and I don't meant to write him off, but I stand by what I said earlier, Nicolas Batum is not very good right now.

He's a below average offensive player (check his TS%), and I feel like his defense is more hype than anything else, I mean opponents average a PER of 16.8 against him that's nothing to write home about.

It's acceptable for a rookie, especially one who's come from overseas, but not the stuff of legends...

Haha, that would be a crazy lineup but the Blazers hold his rights up to 2011. If he did go to NJ (however unlikely it may be), he'd be coming in 2011 at the earliest.

Batum is one of those players where if you look at his stats you're gonna think he sucks. Although he is still raw, he usually makes an impact out there. Those flying from behind blocks are nothing new from him, although this was his best scoring game yet. Before the season started he was destined for D league, but the kid works extremely hard. His opponents per being what it is is because he is so often on the other teams best player except for a PF or C. As a rookie that's not bad at all. When you have a kid with that sort of body and he ENJOYS playing D you're gonna get a pretty good defender.

Yeah, off of his rookie contract, Portland holds his rights. I know what it feels like to dream. I've thought many a times about how great that combo would be in Portland. They're both great players and could be a great combo. When you factor in Brook Lopez or Lamarcus Aldridge, either way, a Harris-Roy combo would be absolutely SICK.

Yea i like what i saw from him tonight. He's long, has a lot of energy ,he really hustles back on defense and can hit his open shots. He really made an impact out there.I really thought of Tprince when i was watching him.Not bad for a rook.I wish Lfrank would play are rookies.I can't wait until he gets fired.

I don't think that's accurate. Where did that stat come from?

The reason I say that is because Batum often does not guard the opposing SF. Tonight it was VC who is normally the SG. Against Dallas it was Jason Kidd. Against the Lakers it was Kobe. Against the Spurs, he spent time guarding Parker.

And the Blazers switch so much on defense at picks and screens, that using opponents PER to try and judge a player's defensive ability is functionally useless.

The stat came from 82games.com so it's pretty accurate...

I was high on Batum before the draft and though he should have gone earlier, but he has a lot of work to do before he can be a consistent contributor.

It's so funny coming here, after listening to the Blazers team doing the announcing through league pass. It's like opposite world here. They were all praising Hayes' defense against Roy. They were non-stop talking about how Roy was being defended.

Also, Batum was their main focus all night. You'd think he was the star of their team. So I guess I didn't have the perspective of "oh, we're getting lit up by a scrub". Dude has a lot of potential.

Lastly, it was pretty clear to me before they even said anything, that the Nets were playing like a different team last night. They really came out motivated, and played hard and were pretty great most of the time. Then the announcers mentioned that they spoke to Brook, and he said that they all sat together after the Golden State loss, and all spoke about how they're gonna be playing with fire now. I'm paraphrasing, but the gist of it was that they realize that they need to get it together, and they're playing with a huge amount of focus.

It truly showed last night, starting with VC attacking the basket from the get-go. I also felt like they were all really playing together as a team.

The Blazers are a great team, and one of the best teams in the league at home. They showed a lot of resiliency and fiestiness, so I'm not too upset about this, though it was disappointing as hell, cause I really thought they'd pull this one out. What's most important is that they played well, and do seem to truly care now.

It kind of sucks the Knicks have been winning lately. All of the other teams making a push for the 8th spot have been losing.

Opie is blatantly tanking, yet he doesn't even know it. :)

On a side note, it is a legitimate possibility the 8th seed in the East could have 36 wins. Gross.

He definitely has raw talent...reminds me of Durant...lucky to be half the player though...needs to obviously mature..
